the whole pic is boring so to speak.
if it is supposed to show a guy meditating or something it doesn't have to be so static. add some contrast in the back...

could you describe what you wanted to accomplish here? it'll be easier to help then.

I like the main figure, specially the face construction. You do need to create some lightsources tho, could add torches across the wall and down that hallway? Maybe add some figures around, couple in the foreground. If he's a vampire lord, maybe you could have his cronies bringing him a meal.

Mr T:

Yeah.. bores the hell out of me also.

What do you mean by adding contrast in
the back? Modifying the value or
adding detail there? Any ideas with the wall?

"...it doesn't have to be so static"

Hmm. I just had an idea, thanks to you! What if I drew some moving figures in the background. That could build some tension between the meditating vampire lord and dynamic background -and that would emphasize the image of the vampire lord's state of meditation. That would make the pic somewhat more interesting.

Thank you.

Cos:

Thanks for the ideas! And I'm glad you liked this undead chum.

The main idea was to use a light that isn't direct. An exception is made with the peculiar hat -it is a light source itself, but a low light source indeed because it just glows.

Those lovely torches, almost forgot their existence. That's a good idea. Thanks His friends bringing a meal isn't a bad one either. It would be interesting scene

Thank you again.

i'll quote spooge here- "create contrast as many variables as possible". that means, color, texture, value, temperature, edges...
