I can never seem to get faces right, guess I should have taken art classes while I was still at school. Can't wait to fail coloring it too

Greet work. Did you make a sketch on paper ?
I like the horse. Colour it Now. Can not
wait for the colour example.
Great to work with gray colours and use layers for colour in Photoshop.

the only thing wrong here is that you did some parts quite detailed and you left half of the chick empty... why's that? |

I'm filling out the details as I go along I'm working on the body now but I think I'll just redo the face completely. |

that technique often makes the pic look inconsistent. and takes much more time. |

Yes, I usually don't do details early in the process.
I tried to do the woman freehand when I did the horse by looking at pictures, it doesn't exactly help the consistency doing it that way. So I've killed the woman and started over with some reference. It makes a world of difference.
I generally don't like to use reference but as there was no way I could draw the horse without some help of pictures I guess I'll have to yield when it comes to the woman too.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll post some progress in a couple of hours.

using references isn't wrong. in fact, i think -not- using them is a big mistake. |
