Well, it's as done as it's going to get I think. It's time to move on, on to better things, greater deeds... I spent more time than I wanted to on this and it still didn't turn out the way I'd hoped.

Comments and critiques are welcome

This is my first attempt at a landscape/background painting.

that's a nice background- i like the houses placed within those trees, it's a nice setting. the entire image, however, is very lacking in depth. i can see a couple of things that could help here- one is the lighting which works fine on the houses but seems to miss the trees and foliage. try simplifying the shapes and shading them accordingly instead of using too much detail which tends to flatten it all. another issue is atmospheric depth - blurring the background as you did is a good start, but you can see that the colors and values are still basically the same as on the foreground. try squinting at the image and see how it all reduces to a big blur. try making the background darker, or cooler, or both.. composition is another thing that needs some adjusting- if that tree on the left was much closer to the viewer, it would have both created a better sense of depth, and a better compositional flow.

Thanks for the crit, I'll make those changes and post an update asap. I was going to add a fairy in the foreground, turning towards you and beckoning you in. That would have helped with the compisition a bit I think.

Thanks again!
