I'm trying to loosen up and just paint.
No drawing.
No planning.
Just get inspired and paint.
I'm also trying to lighten up subject matter wise.
I'm at a point where I'm afraid to work on this anymore. I fear I'll choke the life out of it with refining.

The standing fisher man doesn't seem to have any feet. If he had, then he would stand a little bit closer to the center of the boat. Guess it is because of the difficult perspective.

From the texture of the water it seems like it is raining.

I do think the values are well composed in this painting.

Keep up the good work.

My painting teacher in Art college tells me "A good underdrawing/underpainting will make a good painting... Its rare you see a GOOD painting without any planning"

I see my older sister who paints this way and well compositional wise it sucks and there are soo many mistakes even if its a more expressive paintings. It has to be based on reality. Hope this made sense....

You painting looks good but there are some mistakes that could have been solved when planned.... From what i have learned in college soo far you have to switch brain sides.. Left and Right... Keep in your left brain to plan BE ANAL and picky... then when you actually paint go into your right brain and be expressive and loose.... And right at the end switch into you left side of your brain to tighten up what is needed... This way youll have a not too overly tight/ expressive painting...

I'm just a beginner, but I was moved by the painting. It has a very nice feeling quality to it. I was willing to forgive the compositional errors. I didn't actually see them till I read the responses. What I liked best was the variety of textures. I actually was wondering how to approach a drawing to give it a variety that works so well.

this painting has a really nice feeling; personnaly I don't care about the mistakes, it's got soul and that s the most important

the technique here is sufficient to support the main idea of the pic, i don t know if it would make a better painting by correcting mistakes ..
