I know its not much yet but I just want to post it anyways so that people can get in there ideas in before I start completeing areas. This piece is a self portrait without a photo reference, just my good ol' shaving mirror from the bathroom on my desk instead.

nice detail on the nose so far. the rest seems to be falling in place pretty well. the lighting is really effective so far.

keep it up n' stuff. nice to see you're inspired/motivated. =P

I agree, nose looks good. But I would have refined the base of the nose (the part between the nostrils) something like this maybe:

Although I don't know how your nose acctually looks.. some more light would also be good I think. GL

yeah, except for you said it youself, that you don't know how my nose looks. I don't have an upturned nose at all nor is it all that round. Nice work though if it were me

here's a small pic from an old picture of my nose. Woot! Not quite the same angle, but you get the idea.

well upon closer inspection on my nose I notest that you were more correct than not, Herr O, I had my mother take a picture at the approx angle and found that my nostril did go more into the center part of the nose and there were a bit more highlights than I previously put down.

Thanks for pointing out something I probably would have missed.

ok here's the next update. I have the entire right side of my face pretty much done and the other eye, though I will go over everything once I am done so it flows well.

looks quite good.. nice texturing.. quite dramatic..

the black eyes are probably not really possible given the lighting.. but nice anyway.

very nice... very very nice... I just saw it now, and the whole process looks very nicely built upon... suggestion: go over it one final time and smooth out the transitions of color sleightly, it looks very nice so far but not quite finished yet anyhow.... VERY nice.
