Actually, I think that the original pic had more depth. the contrast between the background and her in the original were much more compelling. I would suggest sticking with the black, texturizing it some, fixing up the folds, and adding just whisps of snow on the shoulders/head.

Seriously, amazing, it is very sharp, features are well defined, and the only thing that makes it stiff is the rendered version... scrap the rendered version, brush up on the original. good work, very beautiful, almost gothic, but very beautiful.
