Well, mostly naked:
I started this piece today for a couple reasons:
A - all my female friends are either out of town for the holiday or have to work.
and
B - today was the grayest, blandest, most desaturated day I have ever seen. Its cold, wet, and achromatic. BLEH!
So, being both horny and starved for color, this is what I came up with. Its based on a sketch I did a few years back for a videogame some friends and I were developing. She's one of a band of nature worshipers, and belongs to the same universe as the tree devil.
I'd say I'm about half-way done . . . still got some anatomy issues to work out, and want to refine things a bit.
Comments are most definitely appreciated.
And yes, I'm aware that I paint a lot of busty, back-lit brunettes. Maybe some art major will write their thesis on it after I'm dead.
*edit* fairly minor update, still not finished . . . something needs to happen with her torso *bleh*

Beautiful painting, I love it, I'd only work out two things:
1) the spear she's holding seems to be drawn as if it was parallel to us, but her body position seems to indicate it's diagonal. Keep an eye on perspective.
2) Work out her mid section a little more, the left edge of her suit should probably go a little higher. That part of her body is a little strange, the rest is pretty much great as it is; maybe change the contour of the right side a bit (her left).
Can't wait to see it finished.
edit: just noticed that her left breast seems a little too sideways for her torso position.

Looks good. Shouldn't the reflected light on her leggings be a cool color instead of flesh tones? It's bouncing off the water |

Right on. I think the best thing is that, sexy or not (to each his own, blah blah), this girl is perfectly sculpted. Not in a bedworthy vixen way, but as far as ratios and that "natural" look. Very jungle. Very Fiji. Not your heroin catwalker. : )
And like these other guys said, great color! Love the sketchy look. Half-finished works ding my joy button, so my suggestion is to leave it and consider your daily art quota reached. Ha! |

The lighting in this is great, balistic! Same crits as everyone else on this one.
Did you ever read a Conan comic called Devourer of the Dead, balistic? Your tree devil reminds me of this huge elephant-sized beast that featured in it. Your creation looks much better, but I'm just curious if you were inspired by it. |

Never read that one highfive . . . I've never really been into Conan . . . I don't dislike it, its just not something I've seen much of. My latest comic crush is Kishiro's "Aqua Knights" . . . there's some amazing design work in that one. |

Looks nice, balistic. I think you should be able to see some light shining on the back of her left thigh. Can't find anything else to crit. Looking forward to the final painting. |

That's really cool. I wonder if there should be more of the sunlight influence on the water? It appears that the sunlight coincidentally stops right where the water begins. I would try a little paintover, but I know I would massacre it. |

thanks Francis. Yeah, what I plan to do is have a hot zone of brighter green closer to the shore, which fades off towards the viewer . . . since this is pretty murky water, I'll probably cast some proper shadows on it too. I'm also going to have some bits of vegitation in the foreground to try and set up a bit more depth. I thought some big water lilies might be nice, but I need to try 'em on a seperate layer before I commit to that. I may add some rocks to the beach too.
Somebody stop me if I start getting too noodly with this thing ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

great pic.
But the postion of her right "her left" arm is bugging me. It looks realistic. I thinks its the composition that i dont like though.
/agree on the belly button =P |

Nice piece. Couple of things stand out to me: 1) The perspective on the spear seems awkward to me. You might consider making the butt end narrower (perhaps about half the current width) to help force it. 2) I agree about the light on the water. That's all for now. Again, nice pic!

and who said that girl was chubby? ILL KICK YOUR ASS that is not chubby...
oh and one nipples bigger than the other... or looks like...
i love the colors, love the concept, love the fish and i REALLY LOVE her costume things those leg things are super sweet... i want some... hook me up...

I think one breast looks more "bubble-ish" than the other mostly because of the the little specular highlight I've got on it to make it look wet . . . I'll futz with that. We had models in figure drawing that had implants . . . *shudder*
"and who said that girl was chubby? ILL KICK YOUR ASS that is not chubby..."
You go girl
"i love the colors, love the concept, love the fish and i REALLY LOVE her costume things those leg things are super sweet... i want some... hook me up..."
*pimpmode*
Sure, I'll make you some . . . we'll need to do a custom fitting though . . . when can I expect you?
*endpimpmode*
Sorry this is taking so long guys . . . Wolfenstein is eating my free time.
