I've had my wacom artZII for a few days now and have been trying to break it in. I can't figure out how to map function buttons 6+. 1-5 map fine but the rest are wacky. Is there a trick I'm missing?

I've been drawing trying to get a handle on the pen... I instinctively keep trying to reach for my spacebar and shift/control-key combos...

This guy lost his jaw somewhere...maybe you have it?
Head Detail 800x600

Here's an early underpainting.

Underpainting with drawing overlayed.

I've got some hazy ideas for a setting/background but nothing solid yet.

c&c are appreciated... <<<<< Do I have to say that for every post or is it just assumed?
Just wondering...and let me know if these are too big or too many or whatever.

Thanks

Thats actually great stuff.

Suggestions? It's maybe a little too dark to really show off whats going on colorwise, and maybe a little more variation in the color would make it less monochromic (well, it would).

The WIP forum is a place to put work-in-progress pictures to get feedback at it's current state, so you dont really need to ask for comments. Pic sizes are fine, but dont go much bigger.

Thanks Sumaleth.
I don't know about great...
but thanks anyway.
I didn't want to piss anyone off with alot of big pics.

This is still very early in the process of laying down the base paint. The color always seems to appear later as I begin to see details clearer.
and you're absolutely right, it would.

I know it's dark but I'm wondering how dark (gamma) you guys are seeing it...the background is supposed to be dark grey.

very cool man, espescially for just getting your wacom. The style is very bernie wrightsonish, a fan? Yeah the pic is kinda dark but I think it suits it fine. Maybe the hair is a little too sharp. Can I ask how old are you howard?

"bernie wrightsonish, a fan"

It shows huh... It's a damn hard habit to break.

NEED-MORE-LINES!!! ARRRRGGGG!!!!

I'm hopeing painting will help me break my dependency on lines.

The hair is only blocked in. It's way too suave for this poor bastard. It's needs to be all frazzled and clumped. Like when you wake up.

I'm 25.

Heh, I usually comment even though people don't ask for it (well, that's wehat we're here for, right?)

I think it'd be nice to have the eyes (or should I say holes *heh*) stand out more. they fall a bit flat there. It might be your style to draw that way, though... Just the oppinion of an eye freak

A very nice decaying corpse. He might have lost his jaw but atleast he still has his own teeth Keep up the good work!

Hey, very schweet!.

Drop the bg, it obscures the pic...I wanna see it in all its glory!!(finished too).

Nice details...and your anatomy skills are mint.

EDIT- Forearm is too long, his hand would be about knee length.....although it is a undead zombie...so we can cut some slack

Really nice pic! I like the style, the face reminds me a little of swamp thing. You have some great detail going there. The hair could of had more of a wilting look, but the style of the piece is quite comic style so I think it works overall. Looking forward to seeing more work from you!

when, oh when will i be able to vask in my own glory as a wacom owner? WHEN INDEED!!

Oh yea, nice pic you got there. Like was already said, makin the eye holes stand out more would be cool, like darker shades maybe black depending on how far you wanna take it.

You inspire me and destroy my confidence as an artist at the same time. Few ppl are capable of doing this, well lots on THIS forum, but still.

pretty sweet drawing

i agree with sumaleth, it is pretty dark, and it would be a shame to miss out on some of that fantastic detail you have going.

maybe some glowing ooze or puss to lighten it up, or a stronger light source or something?

ya, its a cool drawing.

well it seems everyone thinks its too dark, but personally i like it. it adds to it. so, since u were contemplateing a bgd, i think it would be very dramatic if he were somehow emerging from the shadows. u might lose a bit of the detail in the lower half of him or something, but still, it would make it very freaky if he were just coming forth from "the depths". well, thats my opinion....
