this is what i've fixed so far.

i think the mouth is better, but now its not aligned right, and the area around it is kind of screwed up. the ear is too low still, and some of the shadows are too brown. well, i have one more hour to finish it.

Welcome to the WORK IN PROGRESS board.
sorry... that's my caustic way of saying "don't worry about it, that's why we're here".

i wouldnt' worry too much about the mouth and stuff... it looks good on short work. if you can make the monkey actually grip his head/do something with the background, i think those would be higher priority.

I know i always focus on one thing that's not all that important when there's glaring issues to solve in other areas. I need to get better about that.

not really time to do much about the background i don't think, i have to print it tonight. what do you think i should do about the monkey? i'm also thinking about taking away from the redness of the nose, i don't know why i did it in the first place.

what about now? sorry to make you guys do my homework for me, just let this thing drop if it's too much. i think i'll make a few more changes and just print it. by the way, my teacher is very very dumb, so none of this matters from a grade standpoint. but this might be hanging up somewhere where i could see it, so i'm hoping to get rid of any glaring errors. arrrgg.. the mouth..

The shadows under the monkey help a lot.

re: the background, maybe just do a motion blur on it or something... or crosshatch it with another color or orange.

it's just the few exact-same-width
brushstrokes that pop out in the BG.
Watch the one behind his ear too...
his ear almost falls off into the BG.

that's really my only thing. looks good.

this is close to the final version, which was subsequently totally mangled by my printer after it wasted all my good paper and ink on other failed attempts. oh well. the crappy colored scribble things were a little better in the final. i need to learn something about composition..

edit:: thanks for the help jer0. (damn those scribbles are looking really shitty now).

Hello,

I agree with jerO, maybe blur the background a bit more. Also, if you want a general guideline for the ears, this is it: Top of the ear aligned with the eyebrow, bottom of th ear aligned with the bottom of the nose. The ear is about 2/3s back, and not vertical, but slanted. This will help you set it up, adjust to taste.

Also, his jawline should lead up to his ear, in your drawing it never curves, but goes back straight.

HTH,

yeah i know about the rule for the ear, although i kind of like it the way it was. i was probably wrong though. i think the jaw line is close but it kind of fades into that blue too much maybe. i should have defined where it comes up to the ear a lot better. oh well. i am expecting a c.
