Theres nothing i can really suggest to improve it. I think it looks fantastic, the face somehow seems perfect (with no real expression other than in the eyes)
I dont think adding a huge cannon jobbie to him is gonna add to the image too much.
Because of the commical thing hes looking at, perhaps you could add a bit more humour to it by giving him something like a mallet (i have no idea where im going ahh help)
or maybe a magnifying glass? something along those lines? more scientific that BOOMific (i think im meaning guns)
By the way that hand is perfect. (wanders off back to the cave to try drawing more hands)

the whole sketch is perfect, love the style. i like it more, than the other one w/ the gauntlet. I do not know why, bit i do! 
hmm.. add some gun, i think it will be nice, but add something funny.
a smiley-cannon?! or smiley-minigun.. with three barrels.. |
