[Probus]

first off, i have to admit this is not really my drawing. it�s a pic from a comic book i traced over for a part. I�m just not much of a drawer yet, this is more like a brushing exercise to me. Please give me some comments on my brushing, and how i can bring some more life and better lightning into this piece. and don�t be too hard on me, i�m just a beginner.

More life....the ocean is rarely that flat ,put some ripples in using some different shades of blue.

Theres no such thing as too dark. Add more shadows on the staircase. Make the cracks on the stairs darker too. The ocean needs more detail. Ripples, different colors, maybe even if you had the sun going down you could have reflections of that.

yeah, hehe. here�s my progress. for some reason i�m already bored with this thing, i�m prolly gonna regret to say this but i�m gonna abort.

so what have i learned? i think i have some better understanding of lightning and shadows now, and i found out i can�t make rocks yet :�)

AAaaah ! Avoid relying on lens-flares to 'illustrate' a lighting source..
I really like the stairs tho.
As for the rocks, try to see the volumes of the rocks you want to paint. Don't focuse on details but "cut out" the main planes of surface you see. And everything the other said.

Oooh, I love the shadows on the staircase. But the position of the shadows kind of makes it look like the sun would be much higher, and a touch to the left.

At least that's what I see, anyway.

something Ive just found out is that: Dont draw rocks. Draw the shadows of the rock. Am I making any sense to you or am I being to Zen again? =)
