Well here is a WIP I'm doing. I dont know exactly where to go from here. The main problem I think is the colors on the mountains but I'm unsure how to proceed with it, so I thought I'd get some input from you guys. Also I'm not quite happy with the pose of the Viking. I am very happy with the elf girl so she is staying, and will be worked up with more detail. Tell me what you guys think:

What are those strokes on the mountain in the background just to the right of the sword? They're awfully dark, whatever they are. They're really serving to ruin the effect of your atmospheric perspective.
Also, I think the Viking might be a little too high for a pose of supplication. Instead, she looks like she's tugging at the sword, trying to remove it from the ground.
Overpaint using some liberal cutting and rotating.

Wow! Thanks so much for the work you put into that! I have been sketching and erasing and struggling with that pose for days and you nailed it! Cheers, Pat!
THe dark spot you mentioned is going to be a castle. Right now it's just darker because I used the pencil tool to draw a rough outline of it, which I will later refine. |

Heh. That's a tough pose --you might want to get a friend to get into that position for a bit and do a little sketching. My overpaint's got issues too, but it gets the idea across better than my words. Best of luck on the painting.

Just for the protocol: Vikings did NOT have horns on their helmets. They were described by english monks as "spawns of Satan" (something like that) and THAT'S why they have horns in each and every picture.

Time to get booring:
1. The vikings where farmers.
2. a few vikings did sail to distant countries to trade. Even fewer sailoed to distant countries to fight.
3. There where no viking warriors. People feared viking raiders becouse they came in fast longboats, did their raids, and then left before any defensie force could fight back. If 100 vikings where fighting against 50 english knights, the vikings would get slaughtered.
4. The vikings left their wifes at home when they wnt to sea.... |

Well ok.. maybe my history is a bit off... heh... However, in my scenario, the vikings are warriors and they are women. There are also elves in my world. Maybe the word viking is a bad choice of a title but anyways... all crits about the title aside, what comments do yall have on the image? |

hehehe, Norling!
I reckon in distant future, they'll be writing fiction stories about pulp car thieves using rocket launchers and tanks to seige police car impounds, even though it's never happened in our day and most likely never will.
I think the colour of the mountains is good. What's happened to the elf archer, though? Why is she so thin? |
