update farther down
This is a gift for my 13 year old cousin who is in track. My original plan was to have the runner surounded in lightning, but now i am not sure it works. but without the lightning, it looks a little boring, i think.
What do you think
W/ Lightning:
W/out:
any other crits or comments would be apreciated

Is there any reason you have to send only one?

Nice pic man!! I'd prefer it without the lighting, definitely! I mean the dark colours of the background and the more flashing colurs of the runner himself, and the balance in this is too powerfull, to add the blue lighting as well!!
I only have one comment about the pose of the runner... I gave it a couple of minutes in Photoshop, to show you what I mean, I hope you don't mind! It really wasn't much I did, and it isn't very well done, but I think it shows you what I mean. It struck me that it looks like the picture is a bit out of balance, and that the runner himself is too much stationary (think thats why you added the lighting, to add the speed and drive forward that he somehow seem to lack!) He somehow defines the diagonal in the pic, to strongly!
I only changed the angle of his front leg! It makes him more forward minded and the balance of the runner as well as the picture to seem more in place I think.
Hope you'll take it for what it is... a bit of well meant advise! Otherwise a nice peace of work! I think your cousin will appriciate it very much!!

I see what you mean about the leg. good advise. but at this pint, fixing it and getting it to look right might be more effort than i want to spend. may not have enough time either.
thanks though |

He's 13, wouldn't he think it looked much cooler WITH the lightning?
Just make the lightning light up the runner and i suggest that you darken the background. Only my opinions, of course... |

To be honest... that actually works!! Right, I take back what I said... And now I think of it, this was actually a thought I had, but I just didn't include in my last thread! I think the lighting you did the first time, was too much... it covered up the runner to much, and ruined the overall undestanding of the runner being the main object for the work, but I think you have nailed it this time! Not too much, and still enough to give him speed and drama!!! I like it! And I suppose your right "Wild"... 13, he would want the lighting!!!
Great job! |
