Its for my comic site Far-Out-Dude! And I'm trying to get somethign with a lot of "POW". The site is roughly designed in a style a site I saw awhile ago was done in... (it was in dark blues though.) I can't remember it for the life of me... but if someone can tell me what site my design influenced by I'd gladly give credit...
The "Chaos in a world of Chaos" is going to be changed to a color that's easier to read in the near future...
The thing behind the bars on the navbar is a motherboard I recolored to be yellow and blue, and then did some editing so it tiled.
I know I want the navbar/header to be yellow... And I'm fairly sure I want the border and stuff to be blue. Essentially I want the "POW" effect... cause its a comic site... so the "POW" sort of thing is hopefully a trait carried across it... But from people I've run it by... the yellow in the middle with the yellow on the side and top is overly bright... I was wondering if anyone could help me with some colors that would keep the impact factor.. but not be so hard on the eyes?
I'm personally a freak about yellow and don't see anything wrong with it... but everyone else seems to ;p.
Thanks in advance.

Kinda.. yellow. heh. I'd fall into the group of people who find it a tad too strong. It's not too bright - it's too yellow.
I do like the simple and clean design. If you can carry it through the whole site, it'll be very nice.
I upped the luminance for the content section and it was a lot easier on my eyes. Take it for what it's worth .
Cheers,

I see where you're going with it.. and it really does take the edge off of the site... makes it easier on the eyes and stuff... but it just doesn't feel like it has the "BANG" effect... In my current fooling around version, I've make the yellow bands smaller, and the spaces bigger, which takes off some of the yellow, but leaves the comic "KAPOW" effect I want to keep... but the main body area keeps throwing me off... I tried the color you suggested there... and it didn't fit well with the still fairly vibrant bar... so far the best match I've gotten was white... Which even has its flaws...
We'll see... the hardest part is to keep the "BAM" sort of reach out and grab you nature of comic strips imbeded in the site design, and still keep it easy on the eyes... Its tough... top it off with being partially colorblind and you have quite the mess.
Thanks for the help... but I could still use a few more ideas. |

Yeah.. I kinda figured out that I'm the only one who can stand complete yellow... I'm still trying to jack around with the colors... I'm terrible with colors... its why I asked if anyone could do colors that keep the impact, but are easier on the eyes. |

I'll try not to be um.. malicious here... but I already know I need to tone it down... People saying what I already know doesn't help me a whole bunch... I've been playing with the colors for the past few nights... and nothing's clicking... I've tried it all in sepias even... I'm terrible with colors... The first person was quite helpful... But I was looking for help with the colors... not comments all saying the same thing... I don't know how to correct it... my eye for color isn't good at all... I know I need to correct it... You don't need to tell me that... I need help knowing HOW to correct it...
At that I think I'll leave it be and go back to jacking around with the colors again... Maybe I'll see what happens when I grayscale it. |
