I began drawing my character in the EarthDawn campaign I am playing and it started out as a simple sketch, I decided to color it but I think I am going into the wrong direction, colorwise that is.
Any pointers? |

Well, i'm no expert, but i think you should define your lighting a bit better, it's too flat right now.
For colors, it's a bit too saturated and cartoony. I have no idea what Earthdawn is, but remembering my RPG-days I used to draw my characters so that the background etc. really brought forward what the character is about. Colors, forms so like if my character is a screwlose lunatic, I'd draw a twisted city in the background which hung from the ceiling and so on.
Maybe you should just block out the background for a while and concentrate on the character and direction of lights, after that go for the background.
Hope that gives you some ideas |

Mirror the pic horizontally, you'll see most of the errors. |

Looking pretty good.
In my oppinion everything looks like its leaning backwards to me. Is that spear thing in his hand touching the ground? Cos if i was leaning on that spear i wouldnt have it in that position. Main crit is he doesnt look natural at the moment.
Also agree with rex, scrub out the background for now and concentrate on your character. Be good to see how it turns out. |

Thanks, I will try to put those suggestions to good use.
I've also had problems with screen saturation, at work it looks fine but when I get home it looks to saturated.
