I wanted to show my new character 'Ray' going through some simple poses or actions, and rather than putting him in a standard white environment as above I thought I'd have him in a more realistic place. Maybe this is his basement or something. (Right click and Save as... if you don't think you have the bandwidth to stream these, but they should play fine regardless).
Feedback is very much appreciated.

Great work!
One suggestion: have him look at the box before he kicks it. Currently he's looking above it. Have him spot his target, WAHHHHHHHHHH *kick* @:-) |

looks good.
Something that strikes me is that his fingers look slightly stiff. Try to get a more relaxed feeling. Have the joints of the fingers bend less and have the figers move together more. I know this is really hard ive been working to get more relaxed hands on my characters lately so maybe thats why I payed more attention to that. |

Lookin pretty good. I'd say that you should probably bring his leg down a bit faster after that kick, it seems a bit slow and unnatural. Also, keep in mind that your character doesn't ALWAYS have to be moving. Sometimes it is the subtle pauses inbetween movements that make animation more believeable.
Don't let your software automatically tween inbetween poses unchecked, make sure you get in there and tweak out those function curves! In this guy's case I'd say that "snappier" would be better, but thats also a stylistic choice. Looks good so far tho! |

I would really like to know how you made the cape, and the impact of the foot on the crate...I am guessing Reactor...but then I am assuming you are using MAX..so..would be cool to know.

Reactor is a good guess for the cape, but the kicking of the box is just good old keyframed animation.

pretty neat. the animation is great, the environs is cool, and the character has great potential.
try a quick editing experiment if you want. have the camera shake a little on the moment of impact. that might be amusing. |
