Hi Sameoldshit,
Those sketches are pretty nice, but I think you will benefit the most by studying form/value by study from life or at least references. The lady's face on the top left, second page looks GREAT. I personally don't feel so hot about the stuff like the super-deformed face on the right side-second page, which I assume was done totally by imagination.
I think if you studied from life/reference intensely then applied your creativity to your work when you feel really confident, there will be some awesome work coming your way. Best of luck. |

Thanks for the responses!
Yoda-
I agree that I need to draw from life more. Knowing how real things work and look can only help ones drawing skills...however I think that it is too bad that you don't like stylized images...I think that style and stylizing stuff should be the goal of any good artist...Realism has a place, but if I wanted reality I would be photographer...all of this said I have been studying anatomy and my next batch of stuff will look great!
Highfive-
thanks, I saw that guy on the Subway. He caught me drawing him and I thought he might be pissed but he just said "cool..." |

These are GREAT!
And I know you have 1,000's more sketches out there - would love to see some of your new stuff really polished and finished!
Don't get cable and draw more!(You can watch Temptation Island at my place!)
