This is my first painting and right now it's just a floating head. I need all the crits I can get. ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. I need some portfolio piece for getting into art school soon. Help me please. Get this image to look great. tHAnX |

Is it me or is your pic almost black?
Do you have a brighter version? If not try it to colour with a higher pressure. |

I think you want to get a subtle look with slight variations, but i think you should add a little contrast anyway. Some more variations of the light and shadows on the skin would be welcome. Try to add a little more volume to the head adding some general shadows and highlights. Think about volumes. You could also try to add highlights on the nose, on the front (try the dodge tool, but it doesn't always look good. In this case, work with the brush or airbrush).
and... if the image isn't really dark on your screen, well, adjust the brightness of your monitor. |
