Hi again. I just wanted to share with everyone some pics of my latest sculpture. I also posted this in the Finished work as well since it practically is.
This is a sculpture of a small baby, and when I say small I mean small. It fits in the palm of my hand.
I tell ya, its hard sculpting small like this. The sculpt is pretty mush complete. I just need to do some finishing on it.I need to smooth the clay and do a couple other small things to it.
The sculpt took me about 15 hours over the course of 4 days. I used Super Sculpy clay.
I'm looking for any comments on what everyone thinks. I've sculpted, Monsters, fantasy figures, superheroes etc. This is the first time I've tried sculpting a baby.
Thanks for looking! And I hope you like it

Very nice. Much envy coming from this corner. Do you have a web site for all your pieces. I would also love to see a set of photos of your progress from begining to end.

That is damn good work.
(but do try to keep your posts to a single forum, unless some time has passed between the WIP and the final)

I've almost always worked with gray clay but since I don't have access to a studio.. I don't want to piss my landlord since this flat is really not adequate for serious sculpting (carpets, standard plumbery, etc) !
Super Sculpey sounds like it's clean and neat. At the risk of sounding unappropriate for this thread, I'd like to ask you a few things :
Do you cook your works after ? Isn't that a bit dangerous with a metal squeleton ? (I know from experience metal bits in a cooking clay piece can cause explosions in the oven) |

Oh, no not at all. When you bake your sculpture, the armature is under clay for one. And the low temperture will not cause an explosion. I've had wire wrapped with tinfoil and barely covered in clay and nothing happens. I've been doing it over 5 years and I've never run into a problem.
Now putting a fork or spoon in a microwave isnt too good of an idea ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Thanks! Glad yall like it.
Well, I am a self taught. I started by buying McFarlane action figures and posing them and try to sculpt my own characters.
It's all about practice. I am always striving to improve. Every sculpt I do I learn new things and try to make the next one better.
Links...Hmm. Here are a couple....
http://home.houston.rr.com/dpstudios/gallery.htm - Cool website of a sculptor I like. He has alot of tips and stuff.
http://www.polymerclayexpress.com/ - Good place to get clay
http://www.glassattic.com/polymer/sculpture.htm - Real good site. Lots of sculpting info.
http://www.gremlins.com/index.html - Great site! Some great tutorials.
Hpe they help.
Oh, I will be posting another sculpt soon. Actually it is a resin reproduction of a sculpture I did of a flying dragon that was inspired by a Jeff Easley Dungeons and Dragons painting. I am finishing it up with the painting. I also have to repair some of the sharp horns that broke off when I dropped it. ![](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |

The best links I had were from ppl around this (and other..) board. Never trough searches.. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

I really like this. The attention to detail is superb. I like the feet and the knuckle dimples. Very lifelike. |
