Hey All
Working on some character comps (not my character, based on a character from a book. If anyone can guess from my pics i will be thoroughly pleased.)
Anyhow this is my first pass at the composition etc for the image. I need some help with a few areas namely the hand and feet. Other than that i think i got most of the perspective stuff nailed in the pic (which is what i spent the most time on). If anyone has any other crits or comments i'd much appreciate it. I'm a bit worried that its a bit too plain, mind you the colouring should fix a lot of that.
Cheers

Why if it isn't Y.T. from Neal Stephensons Snowcrash. (Well if it's not you can ignore most of the rest of my post )
It looks good so far. Just some small thing, the board and the feet doesn't seem to connect propely or have the right angle or something.
On the character - the skateboard should have RadiKs smartpokes instead of wheels should't it? And I would like you to add some waste and grime to the road and buildings. The skin tight coverall is spot on
Would love to see the finished one

Yeah its meant to be Y.T. i'm chuffed someone spotted it. I'm definitely going to be putting in th smartwheels, i'm just blocking them in for now, plus i gotta figure out how exactly they should look.
Cant quite figure out the feet still....

Overall the composition looks like it will work...The girl is doing a Back-side lip slide, however, she would be hanging up (crashing ) really hard in the next second if her board was in that position...I suggest going to www.skateboarding.com to get some skateboard style/trick reference.
As for the skaters and tight pants debate:
Girls with hot asses can wear any pants they want! I look forward to seeing this piece develop. |

Hey nice.
Actually I thought she was doing a bluntslide on the lower curb....but then I realised there is no lower curb.

By that do you mean just that her board is too low and her front truck looks like she's gonna get stuck? I was considering that...its especially bad in the overdraw version as i didnt redraw her in the right spot. If i've figured properly the board should be sliding along at about the middle of the deck, Yes? Other than that does her stance look ok or is it a bit too relaxed. She's meant to be cruising along quite quickly being towed by a reasonably quick car. It's a bit unusual to have her trying to board slide (especially since she never does it in the book while being towed) i just thought it would look cool.

Wanted to do some more on this but i've been busy doing a portrait of my Dad for his 50th b'day WIP sijun thread I was having trouble blocking in a colour and lighting scheme so if anyone wants to do a paint over of my crappy red line version I would much appreciate it to get some good ideas. Otherwise i'll upload some progress when i get to it.
cheers
