Howdy, I'm gonna make me a new webpage and was wondering if I could get some crits, color suggestions, etc on the new logo.
I've got it with and without the text... I'm not sure where to put the text..

not a bad a start.. but it's hard to tell with just b/w where to place the text.. imo it looks ok where it is..
try colouring it and then ask for crits.. use more subtle colours for the background part.. and more contrasty colours for the lettering.. 'should' work out.. but will take some messing about with colours to see what looks best |

well i must have my 2 cents on this one. if it's a traditional logo ( to be used on a variety of things such as envelopes and letterheads and so on ) then it is not very legible, but that can be easily remedied by making the shapes in the background dark and leaving the letters white. Also, the issue of color WILL play a role, BUT the logo should be legible in black and white only. all good logos are.
If its not a traditional logo, and you intend on using it in just one place, (say in a painting or on a funky webpage) then by all means, none of the above applies, and all thats left to do is clean it up and color it. (even though i think it would be best if the logo could be applied to anything)
peace. hope that helped. |

I ended up tracing the lines in illustrator and tweaking some sections then colored it in photoshop. It looks good in black and white too, so it would make a good letterhead (i hope)

very nice Y, though I was VERY fond of your old logo... I even went to your site to look at it again but alas the new one is up |
