Well, here we go... first art display ever, here. Yesterday I got my hands on a 6x8 Intuos 2, and thus, the end is near.
Do 'scuse the large-ish dimensions -- I didn't think to shrink it down any further until well after my CD burning session (this is a cropped version of the original, which is like 2000 pixels tall or something). Haw.
Anyway.
So far it's taken me me about 2.5 hours, including the times where people kept bugging me every five seconds because I had a strangely purple tablet. I already know that I have to move the bridge of the nose down some... it's a little high. The only things even close to being done are the skin and eyes, too. Err, and those little red jewely dealie-bobs.
Yeah. Crit away...
...Oh, and I didn't use any reference for this.

i agree with icannon, it does look like marilyn manson, the eyes and the elongated face is what does it, then to add to that he has the same make up as marilyn manson did during the 'omega' session.
your style gives the characters a nice elegant glow |

Wow thats like...the spitting image of my Uncle...
And no, my uncle is not Marylin Manson
Everything about it is beautifully rendered. Just do that nose bit you mentioned and it would be vhanderful.
I await my Tablet this christmas, but mines is most likely gonna be a Graphire2 4x5. Bah! |

You know to be anatomically correct you would have to lower the bridge. However, I don't think you need to change it. I think it adds some definate character. Not everybodies parts are 'correct', hell my one ear is lower than the other. Strange but true.
Keep working it is looking great.

nice picture! i also have an anatomical incorrectness i held a ruler up to my eyes and tehy dont exactly match up heh. Also one of my ears sticks out a slightly different way, but thats cuz my cousin popped me in the ear with a large walnut (un cracked and thus like a small baseball)

I'm really looking forward to this picture being finished.. and more of your stuff really.
My favorites are :
-the expression/eyes area. Priceless !
-the lipses.. Pouty !
I also thought about Manson at first but.. nah. Maybe his good twin living in utopia ?
You did this in photoshop over a sketch previously done on paper ? Just wondering..
Cheers, keep it up |

Weeelll, about that nose... it's too late now! I already changed it. Not too drastically, mind, and to me it does look more like the character (this is the first tablet pic I've ever done of him, wheee).
And yeah, my right eye is a hair lower than my left one, too.
And yes, the original is on paper. I saved it for a week or three in anticipation for the coming tablet. I'm more comfortable with working out most of the niggly details and such by hand, but then, since I haven't really had the thing for too long... who knows? I might start sketching digitally more often.
Don't ever wanna lose my love for pencils, though.
And yeah, he does sort of look like Manson, but I don't mind that all too much. Heh heh.
Thanks, folks!

I think the middle of his upper lip is a little off, myself. I think the fat meaty part needs to move a little more to his left. It looks like his upper lip is crooked. To me, anyways... I love the way the eyes just seem to glow and stand out without looking wrong. Excellent start, keep it up. |
