Buh huh.
Nice to see Sijun is back up and working, I haven't participated much (or at all) lately, since all I've had time for is a few crappy paintings.

I started this thing last weekend, but as usual, I started detailing the thing before my colors & values were anywhere near what I wanted the result to look like.. here's what I'm talking about, a bunch of Lego blocks:

So, today I continued with it, just cruelly painting on top of the old stuff not caring much about the effort I already put on it, in hopes of salvaging the picture :Q
right now I'm exhausted and unable to continue with the pic, so I thought I might actually post something on Sijun in hopes of some comments or even a repaint.

Agh, here's what I got so far:

I kind of changed the light setting from bright day to a little foggy evening.. that's because I don't friggin' know how to paint a somewhat realistic daylight setting :]

Interesting work, the valus are pretty good. The shade is confusing to me, I can't really tell where it's coming from. Sorta that "offscreen streetlight" syndrome, where there's an obvious light but no well established light source. The values of the top one on the building I think are somewhat better, but if you want to work with the second, try to differentiate more between the faces of the forms. In lighting it's good to try to get each plain a different value, to increase the feeling of depth. Also, it's often good to light so that the lightest plains are the smallest, most important, or farthest away. Good job! Keep it up, Sijun's doing well I think.

I like the way it is coming along but I think for a war scene, it needs to have a bit more damage and carnage. Things still look like they have a fresh coat of paint.

Hi gecko no crits just wanted to say that your colour values are great as always.
Recently I watched your mech tutorial at lumental. A friend of mine took a quick look at it and said something like "oh nice 3d robot". He thought you did it in 3d. Nothing else to say.

what mech tutorial (urgent voice). Where is it?! Can somebody link it or something? I've been a big fan of Gecko. A mech tut would be awsome!

Greetings master. I wish I could give you some helpful critique about colours, but still I can't. So I thought I give it a shot and try to critique other things.

First I don't like the pose of the guy on the left too much. You should change it to a more active one while you are still in rough mode. He looks a bit paralysed. Give hime some job to do. And make him duck.
The guy on the far right has some wierd thing coming out of his head. I dunno if this was intended. If it's supposed to be some sort of antenna then I would move it to one of the shoulders and shrink it a little bit.
Ans as someone else already said I would add (if I could) more destruction. Like a fire in the background. Or at least some smoke. Bullets coming over the wall (or through). More breaks and cracks in the wall. And maybe some people on the other site running to the front. And add some ruined buildings in the distance. Just like a shadow. I think it's good that you removed the white house since it looked like the one of my neighbour. Replace it with something futuristical looking bunker.

That might sound a bit harsh. But I really love the picture. Especially the mech and that logo thingie. But I don't think that my appreciation would have helped so very much.

Awesome potential. Don't give up on it.

I like take two much more. It is less stiff, and got that gecko-style colour. Spend some more time on it.
