Danbo!!!Thats looking so SWEEEEEET! His nostrils need to be blacker though, they only look like they indent, not going up into his head at all.
Lets see some fogbreath and flies now... ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

Hey looking awesome man, textures seem to be coming along nicely, now start adding the chaos to the skin.
Kick ass looking Dan. |

looks great.. i'd add some color variation to his skin, and put some wear and tear on those teeth.
one thing to consider, though- if he's going to be displayed in a dark setting, you should probably tone down his shoes, they seem to be way brighter than anything else. |

You rock! What software did you use to build this orc? Do you plan on animating it? It may seem a little hard with the mouth though, but I could be wrong. I think you could bring out the shoulder pad a little more. I think is jaw bone could use a little more definition but it would be fine anyways. Nice work again. |

Raist: Thanks!
Patrick: Yeah I am fixing the nostrils, and shall make them blacker. I'm adding more detail into the skin as well. Thanks for the comment!
Halogenic: Thanks!
Vgta: Hi there...yep I am adding more detail to the skin as we speak..touching up my diffuse maps to get some more depth.
Bilbo: Adding detail and variation to the skin now, and the shoes are that way coz of lighting, I will fix that. I plan to go over the textures with a fine tooth comb.
Bradford: Thanks! I am using 3D Studio MAX version 4, and do plan to animate this guy. His mouth is as open as it can get, and I plan to do morph targets with it closed. I may give him some more armor (or revisit the current armor) to see if I can spice it up.
Dryfire: Thanks man!
Wyatt: Hehe thanks..finally some color after staring at it in gray so long! Now I'm just going over all the textures to get them as good as I can make em. Hence the WIP.
Shiro: Thanks mate! This is for my reel..looking for a position with a game company in L.A. We'll see what happens.
I should have more to post soon.

This isn't much of a crit, but it seems like his loincloth is a little skimpy. |

if thats as wide as his mouth will go, i think he'll have an awfully hard time at eating things. but i dunno what you can do to fix that.. i'd make the inside of his mouth dirty and his teeth too.. or something.... |

Hi there..
I have decided to lose the black background and fix the lighting to make sure the texturing is easier to see...plus I am trying a slightly different technique to make the skin even better. Here's the head texture test.
Oh yeah I would probably open his mouth wider in a morf target if he roars at you or something...and his loincloth is a bit skimpy, true, but I wanted his legs to be less obstructed.

very very nice ... i like it a lot ... did you use poly's, patches or sub-d's to model this? ... and do you plan on animating it? ... either way.. its very well built and shaded... the eyes are superb ... nice and beedy inside that big skull .. hehe .. i like the armor too.. gives it that ... orcish woodsman type feel...almost reminds me of warcraft .. very nice.. |

hi there! great model! I already saw your previous post.. and its nice to see the finished one.
I think you can do a lot more with the textures .. its a bit flat, you should definetely add more bump and a specular map. Are the eyes "modelled" or just mapped spheres? They look a bit dull to me.
Hope I could help you!

Dryfire: Ah yeah...I'll have to light that a bit better once I go to refine the texture.
Svanur: Hi there...I am texturing this by unwrapping it and painting everything in Photoshop or Painter 6.
Beekay: Thanks! I am using Sub D modeling for this. I am rerfining the skin texture, so I should have the whole re-done skin here soon. Yeah I was going for a Warcraft style.
Scoll: I am refining the skin textures with bump and a better diffuse map, and will be doing some better bump maps on the rest as well. The eyeballs have a diffuse on them as well as a seperate sphere around the eyeball for extra shininess.
Meaty: Thanks man! The textures should look even better soon after I do the changes\improvements I have planned.
Thanks everyone for the ongoing crits and comments! Awesome..

the gums really bother me, they are not formed around the teeth. this usually isn't that big of an issue, but with a character with exagerrated teeth it becomes one. this is obviously a high res model, so spend some time, and detail, building suitable gums. they'll give the teeth a more anchored feel and help the character overall. |

Update! Pretty much done..need to update the bump material on the leathers, as well as fix the gums and do better tooth textures.

I think something that might anthropomorphize the character a little bit would be to put some kind of dark greenish red Orc Freckles on him.
Give his skin a texture besides veins and wrinkles. Color the veins, not just green bumps.
From the color of his gums Im assuming his blood is red/bluish purple like humans? Tint the diffuse map a little reddish in tender spots. |

That looks GREAT, warcraft3 trailor quality (the newer trailor is incredibly well done if you haven't seen it)
Out of curiosity, what method did you use you make it? NURBS? Patches...? or? |

Woa! Pretty impressive, man. My only crits are these:
- Try putting some dark green freckles on him, and maybe some hair on his arms.
- As someone said, those gums look out of place. Try to build them around those teeth. And darken them more. Orcs have dark blood, so dark gums it is.
- Those tusks look too clean. Maybe a little yellow here and there would brighten him up.
- Is he a stripper orc? Man, that loincloth!
Besides from that, that's one kicking piece of art, man! |
