very nice so far.
I would suggest that if her wings are extended, it should point up more, if it's retracted and relaxed, it'll be lower like it is now.
Damn! I just realized that you are the guy whoes work I've been admiring for the last few days! Really nice paintings! I can see what you mean by influences from Assael! Nice variation of colors you got in the flesh tone--something that Assael passed down to his students? Does he have a certain system/theory he uses to achieve that beautiful variation?

steve has a show of his drawings in the forum gallery in new york , if you're in the area you should check it out or check out the website forum gallery
yeah i fixed the wings alittle, at first i wanted to make her leaning against something, but i scrapped that and redrew the back wing. with the skin i'm trying to use more colors but keeping the tones consistant so it doesn't look like it's all over the place. thanks for the tip. btw, i'm still trying to figure out what to do with the background. |

It's looking good so far. The sharpening of the lower body needs work as you probly already know. If I were to add something to the back ground maybe it would be some kind of angelic scene, like clouds or a white structure wrapping around her. Keep up the good work. |

The pic looks nice. I like the background too, but the reason it doesn't go well right now is that you developed the background and subject matter at different paces. You could just make the picture into a portrait-type piece, with just an abstract background. Plenty of folks have done just that from Durer to Picasso to Paschke. You could try to use the background to balance and compose the piece more. Make your technique and composition as much a part of the piece as your rendering skills or subject matter.
Luck,
