My first try at some anatomy. femal antomy to be specific. To be honset i SUCK at proportion and i never seem to get it right, this time i cant tell really. The legs are WIP as is the hands since i also SUCK at drawing hands. The thing on her head is supposed to be a ponytail. This image was drawn after an anime/manga tutorial so bear that in mind. Also i wanted her to look like a half angry lara croft or something. Some people told me the face wasn't femenine enough. Well, thats about it...could use some tips on how to draw nice hands.

Comments & Critisism are both welcome.
(i know the chin sucks, i'll fix it.)

Just tought id add a comment i got from "Nobuyuki" of the iRC channel #k&p on DALnet:

"I don't like seeing nude people especially when someone draws indecent (if it doesn't make someone want to puke at looking at it then usually I don't say anything)"

There were about 10 of these scentenses in total but i wont bother posting them.
When i told him he had hurt my soul, he said that i should be able to take some "critisism".

I'll let this speak for itself..

Nice to see you're putting effort into it. Don't bother about the idiot in IRC, its good to get critism but only if its good. I know its hard but try to ignore the crap

I'm no expert on anatomy, but I think the hips should be wider, maybe smaller muscles on the arms if you want here to be more feminine. Also try do define the face with only shadow from the nose and lips (that is if you're going for the manga style).
You're picture isn't bad, and I think it can be quite good if you put some more work into it. Love the ponytail
Z.

Thanks for the Constructive critisism Dr.Z. I've worked on the shoulders and put the arms behind her back and also i've made her hips a bit larger and tweaked a bit on the legs. The face has been changed aswell.

I need more feedback boys & girls!
Also important:

Anyone got an eye tutorial, not manga or anime eyes but real-looking eyes?
I really need some cute eyes!
I'm going for a nice & cute look rather than angry now.

I think you've placed the hips to low. Try to raise the a bit.

Maybe not so round at the upper part of the arms-near the shoulder.
At the moment she looks a bit like an olympic swimmer with those broad shoulder.

As for the eyes, try flipping through some womans magazines look for adds.

I belive its comming along quite well.

Just noticed the symetri of the head is a bit of. Here's a trick, I know it looks like crap but I hope you get the picture?

have you been to polykarbon's website?

you might have, but if you havent then he's
got some good manga tutorials on there about
proportion and stuff. It is also applicable
for 'realistic' (for lack of a better word)
style drawings.

go here: Polykarbon's Site

yes, it is coming along quite well (its definitely looking more female as it comes
along - looked quite manly to begin with )

keep working on it, dude.

I started this image from one of polycarbons tutorials of the female body. The eyes however are pretty hard. How ever i try to draw them she always end up looking "hostile". and i want her to look cute. Thaks for the com./crits.

Oh and doctor, a head isn't supposed to be symmetrical, right? Anyway i dont see any major asymetrical faults on her face, maybe the right ear is a bit lower and the right eye a bit more to the center but who would notice.

You haven't seen the last of this image.

The face is the first you set eyes on in a image. It shows in the last version you posted, that the eyes are off balance- you'll be doing the image a favour by correcting it.

As for the cute part have you tried to make the eyes more round? This really helps on the bambi look! + big eyelashes

yeah, dr. zulu is right - bigger, rounded
eyes = cuter girl.

if you want to make her cuter, move away from
the 'slanted eyes' look, and maybe soften
up her face a bit

I *would* try to show you what i mean by drawing an example or something, but for
some reason geoshitties wont let me upload
anything from my comp (i have to use a friend's comp to upload )

Hope this helps!

Yet another update. I have made some eyes and also repositioned them. I've also raised her hips and corrected the waist. I re-did the hair, except for the ponytail.

I got premature and had a go at coloring too.

Heres a stressed draw-over of your picture, hope you don't mind.
Tried to make the face a bit smoother and minimized the shoulder-hip size a bit.

Z.

Ok, thanks Dr.Z.
Here's my prgress on the final version:
I wont redraw the sketch anymore im in the process of cleaning it up in Photoshop, in 600% magnification.

25% size of the working document.

Update:

Update 2:

Reply to Gryphon's post below:
I had the tapered lips on the versions above and it turned out shite so i changed them. These lips i am somewhat happy with. Don't think i will do anything about the ears since im into cleaning it up right now. Anyway thanks for the tips. I will also post a link to a fullscale outline when i finish cleaning it up, so if someone would like to color it for me (mine's not gonna be that good i figure, cus i suck at coloring.) They can do so.

Stick around.

Much better than the original! You're making great progress. My recommendation would be this: taper her lips at the two ends. Female lips are also larger on the bottom than the top.

Her ears are too close to her eyes, as well.

This doesn't really pertain to the image, but you did ask for some tips on drawing female hands, so... Women have long, thin fingers that taper slightly. The knuckles will show less than on men's hands, and (judging by my own hands, anyway) the palm will occupy half of the hand, with the fingers as the other half. Hands should also be 3/4 of a face, if I recall correctly...

Alright, dude... Since you're studying the form of the female, I took a few minutes and sketched out this drawing, as a comparison... there are some major issues with the body you've given her up yonder... although my drawing is by no means a perfect example, it's a lot closer to the real thing, and you should practice cutting down on some areas.

Hope it helps.
