working on a band logo. The basic premise is to have the devil and an angel facing off over the bands name (kon'shens). If they like it I would like to have it ready for print.

Any suggestions on the look of it? I dont know if I am happy with the profile. Maybe I should angle the head towards the viewer?

Anything I need to know about pre-press and Illustrator? I am pretty sure it will be a screen print. This is only my second time with Illustrator.

Oh I am also very new to this place. I dig this forum and all your guys work. So nice to a place for people to get good C&C.

if your going to have them facing each other, it seems like you would want them to be in a profile view.

this is an old image i did like this kinda, except in photoshop. i think almost everyone's done one with a devil and an angel.

Hrm...wonder if anyone else out there has a devil and angel pic. If so you should post it here.

Below is the angel and devil guy together. I've never done this particular style before...sort of power puff girls or something.

Anyone have any suggestion for line weight? This is far from done. I really dont like the way the robes are on the angel. I just did them fast to get my idea out.

i like it with the angel. maybe try a thicker black line around the whole thing? just select all the points > ctrl C > ctrl B > increase stroke weight. the devils tail would look nicer if it was a constant width.

I like the devil better. Maybe change the clothing of the angel. Make him more of a Seraphine ( I believe those are the warring angels)
Wish I could of more help. I'll try and post something later on.

The devil's head is in a profile view, yet his horns are at more of a 3/4 angle view. Other than that, I'd say it's pretty good. I like the style.

Thanks for the help all.

roundeye - I was thinking that too. But not all the lines being the same width. Is their an easy way to just do the external outline of everything since it isnt all in the same piece.

Vgta - Well I am trying to keep it pretty simple but I dont like the blue either, I think I will play off of white with maybe a gold belt or something.

geoman2k - I see what your saying. This is one of the other things I am struggling with. What sort of pose should the angel be in to make him be nice as an alternative to the warring angel.

Bishop_Six - thanks...fixing that now. doh!

maybe if their faces were actually touching? keeping with the whole oppsite theme, maybe the angel's eyebrows would be lighter. i dunno.

With the angel and devil facing off like that, it looks a little... lopsided, compositionally. You might want to consider giving the angel some ribbons, or a longer flowing robe, or some clouds, or something to balance out the composition. Especially if they're going to be centered over the band logo.

I think i am going to just start from scratch on the angel. I just really am not liking him. And doh! Cant believe I didnt catch the composition thing. Gotta balance against the devils tail.
