hi guys,

i did a quick sketch of cllint eastwood using this month's cable guide for reference... interestingly enough, my sketch made him look quite a bit younger than the reference photo, more like his dirty harry days than his bridges of madison county ones... :P i think maybe it's the eyes, i made 'em a little too big...

think i should do anything with the sketch before i try my first real hand at coloring? (btw, i didn't do his right ear coz it'll be concealed in shadow... :P same as the ref pic... :P)

actually the pic surprised me too when i stepped back and looked at it... :P although the hair kinda looks wolverine-ish...

anyways, here's an update (i'm doing it in grayscale, since i've never done color before and greyscale seems a little less daunting, besides which my reference photo is b&w... :P)... i haven't done much yet, since i've been out all day... :P besides which, i'm using a touchpad until i can get my intuos 6x8 next month...

so far i've only done the eyes and lips sorta... how is it so far?

oh and zero21, i might add the handcannon ("this is a magnum .44, the most powerful handgun in the world" :P) if i'm confident enough...

hey guys, quick update... been working a little on the shadows, haven't smoothed anything out yet, still just a WIP... :P anyways, here it is:

btw, the reason there's still a sticks-out-like-a-sore-thumb line on the left side of his face, but that's where the deep shadow starts to cut in, so bear with it for now...

not bad at all. i think you should give him a neck and shoulders, thicken up the hair a lot, and give him a thicker brow. other than that, its pretty cool

geoman2k: yeah, the hair is definitely gonna get worked over, what's currently there is just the original pencil sketch... more as a placeholder than anything...

as for the brows... actually i haven't done them yet!

somehow it's always the brows i forget when i do faces...

and yeah, i think i'm gonna do the neck and shoulders based on the photo reference...

hell, i might even take up zero21's suggestion and add the .44

hey guys, i think i've gotten most of the shadows and highlights to my satisfaction (see previous post), although i'll probably go back to them in a little bit... however, right now i think i might try my hand at the hair... there's just one thing, i was wondering if anyone had any tips for hair if i'm using a touchpad... i haven't gotten my intuos yet, so i'm currently stuck with the touchpad on my laptop, so i was wondering if anyone had any tips for me... :P plues, more c&c of course!
