Will I never get tired of this kind of subject matter? Nope.

Nice one Steven

In my opinion, the best you've posted here on Sijun! Vivid colours and texture.

Do you perchance have a larger version of the old "Helgodom" photoshop painting that you have on your site, to show to the public? I really like the lighting and subject of that picture.

Wow, the painting has a nice impact. Good feel of movement, nice light and composition. Especially the translucent wings add to it. The bright spots on the left side of the muzzle almost look like lens flares, hehe.
But the girl appears to be suffering from vebjorns no-panties-disease...not that it's such a bad thing...
Impressive work, looking forward to see more of it!

That's nice, ...and cheezy I agree, when you don't have an idea you want to tell the world, why not just draw girls Looks good, it's a bit hard to see what the girl is actually doing, meaning, the pose/body gesture is a bit uncertain. But, good job! -me thinks.

OK, I can see these other guys won't be much of a help, so I guess I'll critique. (I'm joking, I'm joking! Ow, don't punch me like that!).

Anyway, compositionally you have a pretty good thing going. The gun/blast work well to contrast the circular composition of his wings+girl. The head, and to a much lesser extent, the arm, mess this up a bit. The curve of his neck isn't really flowing. If you either reared him up more or buckled his head under more, you'd probably get something to work better.

The colors are looking nice. The transleucency on the wing is nice, and the hand nearest the blast is nice. I'm not sure if the light is bright enough considering the whiteness and size of the blast. Picture taht blast as the filament of a huge light bulb. Imagine how much light that bulb would give off! If you had a falloff on the beam, then it wouldn't appear solid in light, and come across as much weaker.

Detail. This section is my biggest gripe. You seem to have really inconsistent detail. As though you scanned one of your paintings and then went over it quickly in Photoshop or Painter. :] You have to remember to detail your focal areas, and so figure out where those are. One of the main ones is just left of where the blast is entering the wyrm. But his chest there is not detailed at all. Yet his whole right leg and left hand are detailed, even though they don't really have to be as detailed. The right hand looks great. Another big focal point is here the gun is resting on the girl's thigh/crotch. Mainly there more developed gun design, and some gear for the chick would be good. As much as we all enjoy pantless ladies, it just gives you that old "eyh, another silly scifi blah blah" feeling. The darker part behind the front wing on left should have less detail, and the front wing more detail, especially in the transit from the brightest transluecency to the medium and then least. The detail on the head, as the composition stands, isn't really needed either. Some detail, yes, but if you lessen the detail, the eye will tend to pass over that area, which in this case is what you want(it would add to the feeling of a jarring blast too).

The contrast looks good - maybe a few more dark darks in the air would be nice-maybe even some volumetric shadows.

The swirling mass that I guess is the gun smoke is kind of confusing. The debris flying from the blast could be more.

That should do. As always, don't think I don't like the piece, I think it's nice- I'm just critiqueing to help you improve once more!

Hey Steve, how about doing a piece first rendered out in 3D, then paint on it. This way, both your 3D skills and 2D skills combine. I bet it'll look really cool.

Fantastic mate. I really enjoy waiting to see what you will come up with next, and love your style.

Mind you, due to the lack of definition below the girl - it looks as though she just had a steaming grey curry

Impaler spake: Where are her pants?

Isn't it obvious? The dragon took her pants. Why else would she be so upset?

It's a classic example of a Draco pantsicus tearofficus in his prime.

Like it, Steve-o

Looking at it again, I think her right thigh is strange. It swells funny. Maybe that's right, but it looks strange to me.
