The white background's kinda messy because I removed another background I had been working on. Just wanted you to see the character right now. Besides some problems with his fingers, anything else really wrong with it? |

Well, his skin tones are a little too uniformly yellow, for starters. I'd try adding some pinks and shadow purple/blues to make him more realistic... as well as sharpening up his sword with some reflections. |

his face seems a little off. maybe if his nose were longer, and the eyes a little further down? |

hey man, thats sweet! Hmm you should make his left leg's thigh a bit larger though. Other than that i like it.. but is this the original resolution? mabye you should display it a bit smaller to make it look smoother
great job |

Okay.
Fixed the skin tone problem. Apparently I had been screwing with the color settings and made it a bit too yellow, and I had gotten used to the changes so I couldn't tell. Boiling frog concept, basically. Stick a frog in a pot water and slowly turn the temperature up, the frog will die because it can't tell the difference. However, stick the frog in when the water is boiling and it'll hop out. Just needed someone to show me that the water was too goddamn hot =D
Oh yeah, I added some reflection to the sword. Gotta fix some perspective problems, but that's not my main concern right now.
I also pushed the eyes a bit further, and added eyelids. Magically, he looks more human, though something still seems a bit off. His cheekbone, perhaps, or his hairline. I'll have to mess with it later.
His thigh *looks* fine to me, but that could just be my stupid eyes again. Or, the texture is so much better than I've been able to do thusfar that I'm willing to allow a fiew little anatomical grievances hear and there =D
But...something persists in keeping this pic from whupping ass. I know it's not detail; even blotchy paintings look kickass before they're detailed. Hmmmmm.
Thanks for the comments. Keep 'em rolling in! |

Hey AoD!
Man I really like the pose and the foreshortening of the sword. Something I think you should look out for...are the edges. Not only the outline but the edges between the different hues/tones...those make the shape. If you're not careful with these, the painting will have that extra smoothed photoshop look that people usually try to get away from. Keep practicing your anatomy and you will be kicking mucho more ass real soon!!
nice job man!
