Here is a quick 5 minute sketch i did of the lead singer of Incubus, Brandon Boyd.

What do you think?

I'm not really serious in art, just do it to relax, i dont plan on expanding on it, but though i'd show it anyways.

Needs work man. The irony is, Brandon is a pretty good artist/illustrator.

You also shouldn't expect a ton of feedback when you preface your work with the statement:

"I'm not really serious in art, blah blah blah..."

Well i was just being honest

Thanks for the inpuit. I know it needs work, and i'm actually thinking of giving it a re-do. But would you have any constructive critisms (sp?)

And on a side note, Brandon is a great artist. Not only did he animate their video (along with Hose) but he has some very nice abstract art.

funny...i tried to draw brandon once too. i don't know if mine turned out any better. if you want to see, go to www.geocities.com/wildgreyand go to "brandon", since geocities seems to be having some problems here. it doesn't look like him, but i like the lighting. and brandon has a really nice body, mm.

because no one else is doing it....

you should think about the stucture of his face and human faces in general so the preportions are right

and the lips are too full

Thanks Dr.Squirley. Yeah i was thinking the lips were too big, and the eyes to narrow, since his not asian in any way i though i should fix that.

Ah, so you do plan on having another go at it, eh? Good deal. Try to get a friend to hang out and pose for awhile with some strong indirect light. Take note of the planes in the face, the muscles, folds, distances between major features like eyes and ears and what not.

If you're going for a caricature style, then pick a few prominent features on your subject's face and blow them out. Get loose and whacky.

And on a side note... we went to the same jr. college. I know, big whoop, but I was aware of his visual art before I ever knew he sang in a band. Talented mofo.

i know he doesnt like to show much of his art around, only to close friends etc but did you happen to see much close up?

Oh and thanks for the link, i'll give it a second go and come back in a couple of weeks with a finished version.

Thanks guys.

My first post here and since a couple people are sharing their brandon pictures I thought I might as well do the same. My Brandon still has the dreads. It's older, and could use work. But Im not going to waste any time on an older piece.
Used a photo for reference.

incubus is pretty cool... and brandon i thinik has a pretty unique face.. try to capture that in your picture... yeah, the eyes that you drew were off a bit, especially the one of the right and how it is behind the nose

cool start though

i like that picture of brandon too. ahh i remember the days of the dreads!
i've gotta get to work on mine, but since i got not tablet, and my mouse is a peice of crap i'll have to totally re-draw. it might take some time with exams comming up soon, so it might not be till the end of the month.
yeah as soon as i inked that eye, i though, DAMN! but oh well its good experience to do it again.
if anyone else has a brandon or incubus related drawing please post
