I like the expression you've created in your image, looks good, however your image needs more detail and depth in it. Keep going, i want to see it finished. |

I'd suggest using paintbrush instead of dodge/burn. Also, you might want to think more about the lightning as the light appears to be coming from several different directions.
Keep going. |

I only used the paintbrush in Adobe Photoshop. Nothing else. different brush-sizes and colours |

This took about 10 minutes
Mine is probably not as good as badger's, but I think it nonetheless shows what I did. I didn't use dodge/burn. I picked new colours from the palette. Using less saturated colours. Dodge burn is always oversaturated. You could have even gone beneath my level of saturation (as bg did). Second thing is lightning.
quote: "The amount of light affecting a surface depends on how much that point of the surface is pointing towards the light. When the surface is perpendicular to the light it is lit 100%, and when the surface if parralel to the light or facing away, it is not lit." -Frost
Light is more than only highlights.
Third thing is anatomy. Get a good book about it. Or download that figure drawing for all it's worth from Loomis. Anatomy is a general thing. You can project human and animals anatomy on other living things. Like orcs. |
