Just messing around today. Trying a few things out in Rhino. But I kinda like this model. Time to install details. I'm thinking of adding long fins somewhere.. maybe off to the side of the engine, sweeping back to sharp edges. We'll see.

here is a view of the bottom of this fine craft. I think the Idea for this is going to be BIG. Size does matter.
The ridge around the edge of the ship will be for window placement. and the alley area will have docking lights leading you to the central docking bay. Not modeled that yet. But soon. Later

Hi there. Looks decent so far. If you're trying to make it look big, the best way is to add lots of details that give the impression of scale. Right now, there isn't really anything in the ship that we can relate to from our own experiences. If you added windows along the edges, for instance, that would immediately make it seem a lot bigger, since we'd have some frame of reference. That would mostly have to be done in the textures, though.
Also, any other little details you can add will make it seem bigger. Adding vents, bumps, beveled edges, and stuff like that could help a lot, since the bigger an object, the more pieces it's going to be made of. Though that may not be the easiest to do in Rhino. Dunno. You're heading in the right direction.
One other thing, and this is entirely subjective (so take it with a grain of salt), is that I'm not too crazy about the shape of the ship. Adding the fins helped immensely for the side-view, but the shape of the ship in the top view seems kind of strange. Maybe adding some more fins would help. But like I said, that's just my opinion, and if you like it how it is, feel free to ignore me. |

Lights, Pannels, other odd shapes. then a planet and some small crafts entering the alley of the ship.. Then time for WAR...
So Sittt and Chill DA Brew man. Yo its all under Control.
DA Shape is different than my usual... So we will see what this thing turns into...

Thanks for posting ZPOD7... Those ships are pretty basic but are nice to see. I started last night adding the fine details. But the file got a little to big for MAX to handle. I think the 3ds file exported out of RHINO got to be about 55meg or so. I guess its time to remove some of those too fine details. And see if that helps the inporting.
I think this ship is getting a little boring now not sure If i should continue to finish it. Design wise the shapes are to contoured. so I cant get a good grip on its shape when adding thing such as pannels. I have some new Ideas of what I would need to do. But I feel the need to start modeling a creature or something.

I like the look of the ship. I agree with waylon though. maybe rotating the fins (top inward and bottom outward) would help. the side view wouldn't be harmed, but the top view would certainly improve.
keep it going |
