This was inspired by the recent Roman Priestess thread--I've just begun, but I know I need to get her facial structure right before I move on--crits on it? Drawovers quite welcome
I've been doing very badly lately, my drawing skills have definitely fallen apart since I left college--any help will be most appreciated

For some reason, she looks more Lebanese that Roman. What kind of reference material are you using? |

no reference material was used--it was mostly about her being a priestess--not necessarily about her looking roman-though I did try to find a few references with no luck
the nude--just messing around with color and abstraction...thanks for the comments-I dont know why more people dont comment--I'm grateful for those who did |

How did I miss this? I'm the one that started the priestess thread, hehe. I hope you're able to finish it and get it posted. Right now her pose is looking a bit stiff and she seems to lead a little to the left as though she is off balance. It doesn't hurt to go through pictures of models for reference, the internet is a big place for that sort of thing She has a lovely face, and I like the decorative hair piece you've made. Can't wait to see it in the finished section

One more thing... I know that your priestess isn't meant to be showing off cleavage or looking all sexy, but maybe this picture will help you some with the form of the body. See how the shoulders/neck is shaped and how everything connects together.
Hope this is helpful.

See how everything that is in light is one value and everything that is in shadow is another, much darker value? Don't mix them up! That should be the first step after getting the drawing a little closer. You know the neck is too skinny, right? Make it fatter! Not too fat... I worked right on your pixels, and I did not see it was too far off.
But getting the big shapes of light and dark is what you need to work on. if you can't do it from your head, find good photography to look at and figure out what those shapes would be in a given lighting situation.
I am gonna learn to type if it kills me
