ok here it is please everyone participate in this i think it will be fun.
Anyone can add a backround if they choose.

Rules ONLY ONE, have to use this line art. IF the picture does not line up with this line art then it will not count toward the contest.

Most of all LETS all have fun please.

After we have 40 different entry's then the judgement. who ever wins gets a free web page, they can supply all art they want for it.

let the contest begin. have fun.

web pages are free threw some lamo free builder. but not free from a designer.

But if you do not want the prize then do it for fun.

i hope some people here take the time to get involved i think it would be so cool to see all the different versions.

hope i did nto draw this for nothing

maybe there is still a few out there that like me and are willing to have fun.

The drawing is:

A: a copyrighted character
B: not drawn particularly well
C: compressed poorly (see garbage around lines)

For those reasons, I don't think many will be eager to participate.

Dont be boring guys, have a little fun, the drawing is drawn adequatley enough to colour it, the guy is giving some life to this hostile place, and apreciate him for that. he res is fine for a 1/2 hour competition, jeez u guys SEEM a little uptight....

But I think the motive to have some fun behind this thread is done with the best intentions.

I am going to have to call my girlfriend (she is a nanny) and ask wot colur dog is suposed to be as I can't say I've ever seen the movie. (I know she has it on video somewhere, but I never get past picking up Mulan and chucking it in to watch the cool little dragon dude!!!)

cool we got someone to color it right on man.
sorry about the low res, i figured most of you have 56k and not DSL.
so i made it a small file. if anyone wants i can upload a big file for cleaner lines.
Or you can do what i do because most of the line art is like this on the net.
i make a new layer and draw over the lines using the pencil tool. just a thought.

But for the rude guy lets see you draw scampy better with just black lines no shading. that can be you entry in the contest, sense you seem so confident in your self. I will be waiting.
Lets get some more colorings guys.

accualy you know what Balastic i just right clicked copied and checked in mspaint and of corse it did not fill in good.
then i pasted it in PS and what do ya know it fills in perfect NO space between the color and the lines. Maybe on your program it did not work right or something. WOrked fine for me.
IF anyone has a problem with that let me know i will upload a higher res pic.

when you say free webpage does that mean i get to pick a domain name, you register, and pay for it, and its hosting, and all the other things.. if thats the case im sure spooge demon might want to do a lil coloring of this. But i doubt ya have the balls to anti up and make the contest worth while.

To elaborate: it is a poor drawing primarily because there is no variation in line weight. All of your lines are the same thickness, which results in a confusing jumble of contours.

Lines are versatile elements than can describe intersections, edges, shading, texture and motion . . . line art is an area of much breadth. I would suggest studying it more thoroughly before expecting your work to inspire others.

Regarding image compression: I didn't need to use a paint program, I can see JPeG artifacts around your lines right here in Explorer. You would be better-off saving as an eight or sixteen color GIF file, which will be lossless.

the line art was just made to color primarly when finished you would not see much lines.

i was trying as hard as possible not to add any charater with the lines. I want the artist that color to add the charater.

but skimpy is such a cool looking doggy and he is so cute and stuff, maybe next time I can color some work of conan and his women like in the bible not the tv show okay?????!?

Hrrm.. this line drawing of stneil's bothers me. It is a direct copy (trace) from the cover of "Lady and the Tramp 2". Direct.. even the scampy fir jetting out is the same. Not once has stneil given credit to the image he traced. bad stneil. go to the corner.

or perhaps i'm out in left feild and this sort of behaivor is acceptable. ??

Yes bishop, I was just at Blockbuster, and I noticed the same thing.

stneil... I tried bringing this up way back in the day when you first posted your homer picture. While I do admine the spirit of doing a forum coloring contest like this, and even moreso, the efforts you've been making towards improving your skills as an artist... this is still plagiarism.

The picture you posted, for all intents and purposes, has not been changed from the original. You've added nothing new to it. The line drawing is just a trace of the contours of the original picture, which means someone else did all the creative work designing the character, laying out the pose, etc.

In your subject, all you said was that this was a picture of Scampy from Lady and the Tramp. You didn't state anywhere that it was a copy - and so it's assumed that everything about the picture (the pose, the composition, etc) is original, but BASED on the disney character. There's a HUGE difference between a copy of a picture, and a new picture of the same character.

I'm not trying to bash you here, I'm just trying to make sure you know the difference (since this is what caused all those flame wars in the first place.) When in doubt, make sure you state every piece of reference you used for a picture. If you don't, someone's going to figure it out eventually, and that can only hurt your credibility.

please look at the properties to see where my image is hosted
the piece of fur on the chest doesn't match up so it might not have been a trace-over, but still it's almost the exact same image

i never claim i made up the charater man. I said he is from lady and the tramp. WHy does it matter if i looked at the cover and drew it. I assure you i did not trace it man. I cannot help it if i can look at something and draw it almost prefect. what can i do ya know. try to draw it not perfect.
well i hope it does not matter that i looked at a refurance and just drew what i saw.

But you can line them up i am sure it is not perfect i drew it fast

ok i just looked at them side by side. And i noticed mine look older like his head is longer so makes him look a few years older. Go head and look you will see it was not traced.
If i traced it, it would be perfect.
