This is my first post. Here's a mecha named Stahloste (with the colon above the a) that I drew from my head. I based the proportions on Robotech valkyries, and the head is similar to some Valkyries because, well, I like the head style. Otherwise, it is all mine. Critique away.
I have colored it some and tried to adjust the line art. Maybe a tablet would help, and maybe a higher original resolution.
The blue part is supposed to be a brushed aluminum feel. Eh.

ok, overall its very cool. its a cool mech, theres just issues with the execution. the chest is on a different angle than the waist. the hydraulics on his right shouldnt be so visable. the legs look cool. the legs should be straighter though, they seem to(especially the right leg) bend forward. the lines should be cleaned up before colouring. either erase all the pencil. do it by hand in PS, or try 'dust and scratches' (sometimes works for little things). looks cool, reminds me of the gyver, but everything does=) oh and try not to do too much cross hatching in the inks. take care of any shading with the colour. oh and give him some knee caps. sorry about goin on and on. but theres a lot of potential here=) i hope this helps a little bit at least... oh and when you colour, dont colour a bit at a time like that. try instead to work on it all at once. like lay down a flat brown and build it up at once. itll help with concistancy. sorry if i dont make any sense.
pardon my weak-ass pink lines. its like, 12:30 here and im tired...

Thanks for the help, roundeye. I'm not sure if I can change the chest angle without redrawing the whoel thing at this point, so I might do that. I did know that the hydraulics were too visible earlier, confirmation is helpful, though. Sometimes I tend to get attached to my artwork and miss the mistakes. Or see mistakes that aren't there. I really formed a relationship with THIS one! Oh well, back to the drawing board. Thanks again,

i find it helpfull to build mechs out of primative shapes, or bounding boxes first. its easier to check the perspective on parts that way. especially if its an angle like that. are you going to keep working on this one? |

Yes, I am going to keep working on it. Maybe just color it for fun. I'll remember and learn for the next mech I draw. I think the twisting angle would be okay (what else are those hydraulics for?) except there appears to be no motivation for the twist action. Also, the right arm seems to be too long now for that angle.
