this is when his woman Deliah gets his secret from him that his power is in his uncut hair.
then why he is asleep it gets cut off.
you should know the rest of the story. If you don't i doubt then that you care to know

Just wondering [since I never read the bible]: Is Samson such an ugly badass with red locks and stone skin? Or is that you're interpretation of him?

yes samson is of the nazerite tribe which are Zion Daughter of isreal. Bible over agian says they are RUDDY people. If you do not know what RUDDY means it means red hair white skin. The word adom accually means ruddy HUMAN.
then it goes in more detail about the nazerite tribe saying they look white as milk and hair as sappire.

Your rendering of anatomy has leapt forward about 300%, especially in the hands and feet. His one hand doesn't look very natural for someone who is sleeping though...was that just the way it was in the reference pic?

Ruddy usually means ruddy skinned. Easily flushed. Reddish noses and cheeks and a warm color to the skin. I don't think it says anything particular about hair though.

st... you dont' seem to understand some things
when it says they have white skin, i REALLY doubt that is littleral. just like now american white people have more tan/peach colored skin, and most black people what brownish skin... hardley ever extreme white or extreme black.
also, you shouldn't sacrifice artistic quaity for historical accuracy. i mean samson looks like he's never seen a day of sun, and his hair has been dyied red.... i think thouse colors just look terrible (sorry)-and you making it look like this just because of ONE WORD written in the bible.
if you really want to make him look right, i say you study some pictures of people with red hair. it seems to me that red hair is ususally a lot more orangish, to me. also, redheds usually don't tan well- they eithier burn or freckle.

wait, theres more i have to say...

you NEED to work on your shadding... a lot. its not nearly subtle enough. you have way too much contrast on the light shades and the dark shades, and you need to work on making the shading blended into the picture, so it looks less out of place.

you ARE a pretty good artist. you just need to work on your coloring. i think i would like this pic a lot mroe if i saw it before it was colored. don't give up on color tho -its hard, but with practice you can get a lot better.

ps: i don't like the girl in the background... but i do like the artwork on samson himself (except the coloring).

No ofence, but the woman is looks like a really "tough" woman.
I always got the impression from the story that she was more a "pretty little thing" that had the larger strong guy ended up head over heels for. (and like most of us who fall like that for a pretty face, he gets burnt big time)

Just thought her facial lines could be a little softer and the tones as well, to give her a more "pretty/feminine" feel.

Glad to see the continuing theme here, and look forward to Your "haircut" and "human wrecking ball" interpretations. Keep it up, improvement is visible and noted by the comments I've read here. cool.

thanx i am not to happy with the coloring either. I like the hair coloring though.
But it is more than just one verse.
It's all over the bible. People just do not read enough.
people need to learn bible langauge when it says something twice in a row it is realy tried to get your attetion.
when it discribes there hair color it says red as rubies red as sappire ,, trying to express just how red it is.
just because todays people with red hair are more orange does not mean back then it was the same. the blood line is mixed way way to much to ever see what those origonal people looked like.

I have seen lots of them. so white they look dead. like they never seen the sun before.
well i hope you have a better debate than this.
try reading one book in the bible before trying to debate it next time ok.
