The start. Often a good place to begin, I imagine.
I don't really like marking out my lines so clearly, but... well, it was going to be a tattoo. It isn't any more, so I might aswell paint it up all the way, I suppose.
EDIT: Buggered the URL up. Yes, I suck mightily.

I like it. nice Job. Is it for you?
I think it's a shame that you may lose some of the detail in the final tattoo, due to the detailing of the feathers. From my experience the tattoo artist would just say to the guy I did it for:
"are you kidding, be more simple" and I hated that, but anyways, yes..be nice to see some colour pics.

No, not for me.
In my experience (I don't have any tattoos, but I've had a few studios ask me about my pictures) a lot of people will say something is impossible, and then you'll find one person who pulls it off. It very much depends upon the skills of the tattoo artist, I guess, which, unless you're really willing to research a lot and shop around, is pretty much down to the luck of the draw.
But as I said, the tattoo isn't going to be done anyway, so it's a bit of a moot point. |

Made some progress... but I'm probably going to give up, given the defeatist mood that I'm drowning in. I don't really feel anything at all for this... just a hollow numbness. Which can't be a good thing. Besides... it's SO not my usual slice of cake.

Like you already know - I really like this one.
I don't know what kind of look you're going for, though, but you might want to add a little bit more contrast into it. Some deeper shadows... =) It's pretty like this, too, though. |

The ribbon is really doing it for me, as are the softly-coloured wings. And the skin looks smooth & living this time, too--I really think that this picture could be something incredible if you were just to mess about with the anatomy a little more...bang out those pesky incongruities, you know....
Oh, those feathers....
I really like this, even if you don't work on it any more. |
