ok, this is a piece for my portfolio, I started working on it about three weeks ago, and haven't had a chance to get back to it yet. Hoping to finish it and my portfolio by thursday.
Anyway, I'm planning on finishing this piece on wednesday so any crits, comments, suggestions you can provide on what to add/remove/change before I go in and finish detailing it on wednesday would be great. Or just tell me whether you like the subject matter and if you think the pic/composition is worth sticking in a portfolio, basically any feedback is wanted, so dont hold back on me.
and heres a link to the full size image(185k, res is 2400x1200x400) |

Cool, a little blurry, but I'm sure you know that. Ummmm, Your details on the stalk to the left of the screen looks good, put more work around the image like that. Maybe add a few levels to it, so that the ant seems to be down in the thick of it.
Well if any of that makes sense... |

Hey, thanks for the reply. I did the initial *blurry* rendering really quickly, maybe 10 mins, just to get the basic image down, and then I went in and started playing with how I wanted to detail it. Now I'm pretty happy with the style of the piece so the rest of the detailing should go fairly quickly. Hopefully I'll actually complete this piece, I've never managed to do that with any of my digital work so far.. hehe.
Anyway, I'm thinkin maybe a butterfly in the sky, a ladybug on one of the stalks, and maybe an old hollow log in the background will help round things out and add a bit of life to the piece?
Oh, couple things I forgot to mention earlier, did this totally in painter 6, I love that program :P And so far I've used no reference at all, though I should probably look up some images of ants and revise mine a bit before I finish him off.
Ok, thats all... for now ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
