Hello

This is a character I have been working with every now and then. I am starting to be quite happy and I have to go ahead. So please use your eyes and give me feedback if there is some crusial problems. I will start doing the morph targets soon and then I can't go back to fix the model again.

About the model - 3ds Max surfacetools (polygon patches), only texture is noice bump on a specular layer. Model is still two separate mirrored instanced pieces - asymmetry will be added when it is otherwise finished.

Looking very good, but I noticed a couple of things.

First, a technical comment. You've done a great job of using edge loops around the eyes, but not so great around the mouth. You might run into some creasing at the corners of the mouth when you are setting up morph targets.

Next, I think her eyes could use some work. Her lower eyelids are very subtle, and her eyeballs are set too low. It may be that you've just decided to model her with her eyes wide open (bad idea for animation setup), but she looks a bit like she's on PCP right now.

Otherwise, it's looking very good. I look forward to seeing her with hair and a body. Keep up the good work.

Not really a critique, but did you mean her jaw muscles to be so defined? It's unusual for the jaw to be so muscular, especially in round/oval headed people. The only anatomic thing I'd comment on is that she seems to have a double upper lip thing going on. Can you kill the line above her upper lip that looks like another lip? :] Nice job!

this raises an interesting thought.. what if you were to take the one half of the pic and slightly.. (ever so slightly) skew parts of the face like make the one eye a touch higher than the other and the ear accordingly.. maybe slightly change the shape of one nostril.. by a few points..

the point is that very few people have such symmetrical heads and it would add a world of life and realism to your character that would otherwise be unachieved..

anyways you dont have to listen to me.. but It would be an interesting thing to try..

yeah, but when they do studies on human attractiveness, the top 2 are complexion and symmetry.i cant remember which is #1. but the more symmetrical, the more attractive. but yea, no ones perfect eh? haha

she looks really elfish. which is a good thing.

Good point. Actually the eye area is more troublesome at the moment though. I have to do some test to see if I have to change it or not.

And comments on eyes are good. And as someone pointed out in 3drender the expression isn't that neutral.

And about muscles - yes her "looks" are intentional and I am quite happy with it.

The eye brow business needs desicions either I map it to the model or I make it sepaate - that will affect the shape naturally.

and about the asymmetry, quote from my original post:

"...asymmetry will be added when it is otherwise finished."

so I will do it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Good points came up.
