I was in the middle of making a banner for my webpage when i stubbed on a bothering question. what font should i use?
below is the banner without the text.
and here are some examples of fonts i was thinking of using:
1
2
3
considering the fact that the text will be colored to fint the background, what font you think i should use? (choose one from above or suggest one of your own).
thanks!

NoRwoOd, I guess this decision could be approached from an artistic point of view, in which case I would agree with the order you put it in. But if you're going for the design aspect..I'd go with #2 first, then #1 then #3. #2 because the negative space helps focus my eyes on reading lost oath. Not mumbo jumbo scribble(#1), and not like an advertisement that I'd look away from(#3). Is this going to be a font associated with whatever the banner is for?(web site?)If it is, then it would be a type logo, and should convey some of the ideas expressed by your "Lost Oath" work. For example, if it's a kids literary magazine, you'd maybe use serif fonts(Times is serif). Or you might want to put in a "handwriting" font if you were doing say a kindergarten learning book. Go http://www.eyewire.com and check out all the fonts they have. They have a cool font render engine that allows you to see your text in MANY MANY fonts. Hundreds to choose from
edit: looking at it again..DITCH THE ARIAL LOOK-ALIKE ON #3..

Wiked Ewok: I'd have to say I agree with you on dumping #3.
I aimed this banner to be more of an art form then advertisement since i came to the brilliant conclusion that people simply HATE advertisement adds. By doing a banner that attracts eye other then the brain ("dont miss the best site in the world bla bla..") people will hopefully click on it.
the font in #2 is too small for me to both successfully merge with the background and keep it readable so for the time being i'd have to go with #1.
unless i find a better one in that site you gave me or someone else gives a good suggestion.

dude... the banner itself is really cool... but each font is really not good. and color... you are going to change the color right? and the effect right? the banner, again, is really cool. |

Not really much to comment on, but go with the 2nd, it's the most design oriented I suppose (placement-wise). and also becuase the graffiti font just doesn't fit that style, and the last font has awfully bad kerning (might be better if you adjusted it),but I say go with the 2nd.

looks great. cant read the button though, thought it said intel at first, now looks like enter. for it to be effective, it should be clearer. |
