I like this a lot. As stated before, great design & textures.

As far as a critique, the distortion/perspective of the bolts on the X, particularly the right one, I find a bit distracting. But that's just me and if that's the look you're after, so be it...

it's not actually off.

you see, i free-transformed the 3d geometry in photoshop to hell and back, so it's unnaturally skewed, and i wasn't exactly too precise when i hand-butchered the bolts and the text...

and no need to point out about the shadows. :P

i refuse to touch flash. i like old school html/html4/dhtml/css. and yes i've thought about how i'm going to build it. it'll, provided all the gods and my Angel are on my side, should in netscape too..

i'm not ready to pay so much effort as to install flash5 in the first place. i prefer html. i dislike flash itself. plus i don't have the motivation, interest or energy or time to learn flash any more than the basics i know.

this kind of reminds me of ortaga's site. not in looks... but the fact that it has really cool texturing and will be some kind of crazy dhtml contratption.

well the only dhtml that will go to it are the layers, and i will most likely end up using frames after all.. but god knows. i've not given the content itself any thinking yet so i will just do whatever pops to my mind at the moment.

concerning flash, when you are making html web sites all day long it is a great refreshment , and thought it is cross-browser and 90% of browsers have now the plugin installed ; and well it can play sound ..

No, PLEASE NO SOUNDS! There is nothing more annoying than sounds on webpages. Or atleast make it so you can turn those f#�% sounds off.
Other than that, go for old school because this page will kick ass.

almost all sites let you turn of sounds... and depending how they are implented i think they can actually help and not hinder a site.
