I'm working on a selfportrait (3D), and I've modelled the (my) head, but I've run out of ideas... anyone got any good ones that are fairly simple to execute? It's for my resume, and I need to be finished in a couple of days.
All ideas are welcome!

It's not supposed to look good, it's supposed to look like me.

G_Luder:
They tell me it looks like me, only without hair (I just can't get the grips of Shave & Haircut).
Any kind of ideas that would make it more interesting, comments about lighting and so on. i thought about making an icon, with halos and stuff, only me instead of jesus or a saint, but I canned that idea.
Just straightforward polygon modelling. I model everything I do in lowpoly, then subdivide it and continue. It's done in Lightwave.
blup:
Now that you mention it, I guess it is. Thanks.

the eyes. something's wrong with the eyes. check as many photos of eyes as you can, and try to get a feel for how they are built, i'd say. . these look freakishly wide |

is the forehead supposed to have such high specularity/ shininess?.
skin on humans is almost completely lambert( excemp some areas )
also..do you have no cheeks?. because theres close to no hint of cheeks in this pic.
keep it up tho.i like it

Edible Snowman is soo right. Make the guy smiling and frowning, and all that stuff. do about a line of 8 in one image and your a shoe in! You can model very nice, no doubt about that, but is it moveable? I never really saw a point to a still, unmoveable 3d model. Thats what a company will look for. Also add some texture like little liver spots to his face, and maybe some faint blue viens on his forehead. Lol and maybe a faint unibrow if you got one! lol.
For an idea, model and hand that jumps around like thing in the Adams Family. A hand is one of hte most difficult things to model and move properly. |

I'm gonna have to agree with ambient on this one. There are no cheeks. The bottom of the eyes shouldn't be completely level with the cheek area, it should look at least slightly sunken. Also, it's way too symetrical. I don't mind that the model is symetric but I don't like the symetry in the texture. It's really apparent in the forehead on the veins and on the blemishes on the side of the face. Also, I think the bump map on the nose might be a little too large and pronounced. Also, do you really have hair growing out of your bottom lip?
But it looks really good. With just a few minor tweaks I think it'll be great. |

Thanks for the critique, all. I will make the texture (and the model) less symmetrical.
You were supposed to crit the pic, not me, though. No, I do not have any cheekbones.
Facial Expressions: Sure, that's a good point, though I'm looking to get in to classical art schools and some of them wanted a selfportrait of some sort. I figured they don't see much 3D, so I went for a rendered one. A good still is more important right now. But it's a good idea, and I will do it as soon as I get the time. (And to be honest, it's my first 3D-head and it's not very well built. I'm not sure it would be that easy to make facial expressions without big changes in the mesh.)
MeatyCheesyBoy: I assume that you commented the first render?
Thanks again folks; More "imperfections" and a more asymmetrical texture.
