A bit more refined version, added some depth of field although i'll still go back to it. The neck and arms need more work and I still haven't even touched the hair ;-I |

What big lump? She's pregnant! :-) Or is there another lump I'm not aware? |

Work in progress:
yeah, well... she's great :-)
Drawing from a reference, i think this pic was the first one taken while she was pregnant.
The original is something like 3000x2000 or whatever :-) |

Jesus christ.
Do not, under any circumstances, turn your head upside down and look at her face.
Toxic Avenger, here comes the competitor! (unless I get back to the drawing board fast)

Nice work, I really like the pastel quality to it. You re-touches to the face worked out really well. Not having seen the original photo (and its a shame, I'm a fan) in this image, the eyes seem awefully dark. They've got the "smiling" eyes thing going, but so dark it looks kinda strange, at least at this res. Maybe you could bring some highlights in there or something?
My nickel's worth, I couldn't do pastels that nicely! |

Here's the reference.
I think it's an awesome picture :-)
Hmm. The stomach area does stand out a bit compared to the original. Oh well, i'll refine it later in the evening. Just got home with three books from B. Hogarth, gotta read those for a while... |

Ooh, I hate drawing from a blurry reference pic (blur due to DoF)... makes it so hard. Nice piece of art though, very nice. |

Just as I was listening to Tori Amos, I see this post. Hehe.
Very nice, I love the colors. First thing I did when I saw the picture was look at it upside down. Heh.
I'm glad you fixed the face.

Thanks for posting the reference pic! Like I said, I'm a nut about Tori
Looking at the reference though, where she does have the dark outlines around the eyes, she also has some minor highlights around that area and in the eyes themselves that lightens up the appearance of that area.
I really like the way you've treated the fabric, and the lighting at the outer edges, especialy near the one elbow. The way it the light blends out is really neat ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

Ok, a bit more refined version. I noticed her head was a bit too small so I made it larger and tried to brighten the eyes a bit.
I started the whole thing using paintbrush with solid strokes of different sizes. I just smoothed the whole pic and i think it's almost finished except for her hair which is the biggest part. Then couple of tweaks here and there and it's off to finished section
I still don't like her right arm/hand tho'. |

Wow! Lookin' good, the eyes are a total improvement, IMHO
If you're not happy with the hand (I assume its the lighting here that you don't like) fudge it so you like it! As long as it doesn't look to out of synch with the lighting in the picture itself, there's no reason you can't alter lighting here and there. Personally, I thnk its the strange highlighting that's causing it to feel a little, um, off.
Its great work! (I'm listening to Tori right now ) ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

Frost: yeah, it's the lighting in the arm that i'm not happy. The left arm looks alot better and i'd like the same effect. The translucent effect of the shirt is alot more effective in the reference than it's on the pic i've drawn. A bit hard to do actually :-)
I'll work on the hair first and see what i'll do after that.
I think i'll do more Tori Amos -pics in the future. There's loads of great photos of her around and they just beg to be drawn :-) |

Here's the final. Time to move on ;-)
I tried to add some variation and texture on the right hand. That sort of semi-transparentish cloth is a bit hard to do :-)
I'll pop this one on Finished work too.
Thanks to everyone for comments and expect more TA-stuff soon ;-) |

I think the blurring of the distant parts of the picture was a nice touch. It added a more "photo-like" feel to it. |

TORIiiiiiiiiiiii...:::droools on himself:::
Sweet work, specially since you used pastels. I think after I stop drooling over the images I will say something useful to you.
Peace,
