Hola peoples, this is an image I'm doing for the Q3 mod I'm working on with Artemis Software. I'm posting it here because I need shoulder/neck help. For some reason I can never draw that area properly without reference. I know the ear is a bit funky right now but I'm not done with it yet Anyways, enough blabbering, here's the pic...
I'd also like to know how you would expect this character to act. Just a few words that describe her personality judging from this pic, I want to make sure I captured her appropriately.
Tankoo!

My only real crit would be to make the neck thinner and longer. Not MUCH, but as it is now she looks very masculine in that area.
As for her 'personality', she looks like she would be vindictive, seductive, and very selfish. She looks like she'd do anything to get what she wants. If so, then you've captured it very well. If not, then I totally suck at character analysis! |

What's her name? I think names are a starting point to a person's character, even in real life. The way a baby will think about himself can depend on the name he has. I mean, a guy named Hudson Fisher wouldn't be as popular than a girl named Cleo Something(cleo can stand alone:P).
But anyways, I think she looks intelligent yet mischivous, yea seductive definately goes with her, umm, tempermental? agressive(since it is a Q3 mod).
Oh Jezebel, did you take that name because of the Quake 2 skin Jezebel? Just wondering.
oh how bout fanatically religious? jsut a thought

I really like it Jezebel
The only minor thing is the part where the hair meets his skin.
Other than that, great! |

On top of what everyone else said, watch out for her face becomming rather flat. The light source(s) direction is rather hard to detect.
I really like her great facial paint too.

The left (her right) eyes is kinda funny looking.
Hmmmm....well she looks sorta evil, like she's plotting to kill us all or something. |

TremorX - Thanks, I'll work on slimming up that beefy necks of hers! Nice character description too. However I pictured her a bit more regal than selfish. Maybe a bit snobby - definitely seductive though
Wiked Ewok - Her name is Anaea, she's a Greek amazon warrior. I got my name Jezebel from the story of Jezebel, not the Q2 skin. I actually never played Q2
Ragnarok - Thanks! Working on the hairline right now!
Visionary - Thanks, I'm awful at determining a light source... blech. I sorta have a deadline for this tonight, but after that I intend to go back and correct the skin tones in some areas using the advice on seeg's page. Then I will also try to improve the lighting
Faustgfx - Tankoo
coil_weevil - Well, if you're sided with Hercules she might just be trying to kill you!
Thanks all! I didn't get too many comments on the neck area that's giving me so much trouble though, hehee. Can anyone help me there?

Heya Jez...
here is what I noticed about your pic
The eye looked a bit off to me so I moved it over a bit...
in the shoulder area you were asking about I draw lines over it to show you how It would be... from my eye anyways.. hope its what you are looking for.

i dont have much of an anat crit but i think the post above mine is correct.
the personality that i pick up is that she is spasmodic, and sociopathic. she seems like one of those dancers from india that get really into what ever they are dancing to and their eyes wide open.
i dont know i just see here standing still one moment then moving in all directions really fast and now everone's throat is slit and she is covered in blood licking her kryss-like dagger with wide eyes and small pupils.
maybe i have problems ... |

Hey Solitaire, it's www.artemissoftware.com but it's a little out-dated. The gameplay has changed quite a bit since then The screenshots are pretty old too. But I can hook you up with better information if you like
Here's a screenshot of one of the levels we did:
The bull you see back there is one of the creatures you fight in the game. Moooo
Anyways, enjoy!

i played around with your pic a bit but i deleted it because i suck.
but i was right about the ear, so much i noticed, it needs to be bigger and lower. imagine the vertical line that forms the bottom of the nose elongated to be a complete circle around the head. that should be the lowest point of the ear. for the highest point, use the brow line as a guide in the same way.
Also, the necklace is off. it needs to be drawn from further above, i.e. with a rounder ellipsoid.
what made me ditch my half-paintover that tried to visualize these changes was that i wanted the nose to be less pressed into the face, and more to her left eye. but that meant that i had to change the position of the mouth as well (GRMNBL) an when i had done THAT i felt that the mouth's form was somehow wrong. so i decided to draw my own mouth in it's place. well i tried. but in the end i gave up since i had to realize that i would have to redraw the whole chin as well. ungh.
anyway, the conclusion from this is: i think the position and angle of the nose is somehow strange. it somehow feels like eyes, nose and mouth are drawn from different angles.
as for the neck, just imagine it as a cylinder.

Nice work Jezebel! But there is still one thing making the eyes look odd. the glare on her iris should be placed on the opposite side of the brightest highlight (if there is no highlight -> no glare). Then, the highlights should be placed nearly in the same place on the eyes, as long as she's not crosseyed. Hope this is useful.
Nice hairstyling! |
