Pencils: Jim Cheung Inks: Don Hillsman II Colors: Me

This page ended up looking alot like the regular series colorist Caesar Rodriguez's. Which is good and bad. Its good cause he is pro.. its bad cause it doen't look much different. Oh well.

I'm not much of a professionel. But I wanted just to let you know bout my appreciation. I wish I could find those colours.

i really like that ugly small gnome. but I dunno bout the human. the colours on his facec in combination with the hair look weak to me. Maybe you use more contrast?

Just suggesting

[edit] I really really love the wood. [/edit]

Really nice job on the coloring Chapel. The only thing I noticed that may have been purposely left out, was the ring in the 2nd cell. It doesn't have the glow that was present in the first cell.
Other than that, great job.

im not really a huge fan of comic coloring, i love comics, but ever since they've started digitally coloring them ive lost interest.

but, with the current state of comic coloring this pic is very good compared to todays standards. dont get me wrong, ive got nothing agaist comic coloring, or your pic. i honestly think that its really good. its just that...id like to see something more original, thats all.

Thanks for the comments. Looks like I'm going to have to redo this picture as well. Good thing I posted before I did the other two pages.

the_monkey: Sorry for the lack of originality. Bad habit I have of making comics look like comics I guess.

dont get me wrong chapel, i think your very talented. and its not your pic thats unoriginal, its the majority of comic coloring thats too repetitive. i'd be sweet to see more stuff like kindom come etc etc. i dont know why i brought this up, so ill just shut up now.

I don't really know much about digital coloring, but here's my main thought:

I think the wood could use more tone variation.

The more detailed the wood gets the more it would draw the attention away from the characters IMHO.

Good point about the wood chapel, i'd have to agree.

But about what the_monkey was saying; I've read comic books before, not lately however so haven't seen many digitaly colored ones. but comic books are comic books, they have a certain style, you know.
Anyone remember the coloring spooge did of the EVE picture a while ago? I'd love to see a comic book done "spooge style."

Heheh, I'm bumping this up before I missed it before. I'm sorry about that.

Anyway, this is really great looking, Chapel You're improving at a ridiculous rate - I still remember how your pictures looked when I first started coming to the forum... and how they look now - it's insane!

I really like these, Chapel, the colours are nice and dynamic and strong, without being totally over the top, like a lot of comics I see these days. They look bright and energetic, without looking like they're part of a circus act.

I totally agree with the wood thing, by the way. It's one of the reasons I shun backgrounds. Okay, okay, it's an excuse, not a reason, but either way, it's a very valid point, especially with comic art. Personally I think you've got the balance between detail and anonymity spot on. They're great to look at, without drawing too much attention away from the characters. When you look at a comic as a whole, you want the focus to be on the story, not the interior decorating.
