Hey man, I like what you've done with the concept. Just one thing gets me, when someone runs the arm usually counterbalances the opposing leg, so if his right leg is in front then his left arm should be forward.
Unless that's his left leg in front, in which case it might be good to make it more apparent.

Well you have some of the details right, like the counterbalance you have is technically correct. However he doesn't look like he's running. He looks more like he's posing. For one thing, his hands seem to be palms down. People tend to run in near fists, with their palms facing in the direction of their body, or opposite side. You're also using too much smudge; if you are going to use it to show speed, try using tiny lines smudged back, and with some seperation. All in all look at some Runner's World magazines, or something to get the feel of a running figure. |

Would be nicer with that "manga"-effect. |

hey it would look more like they are runing if you only smudge the runner not the BG.
the look you have now would be from the runners perspective, with eveything bluring past.....just a thought |

Actually I wanted to achieve the look from the runners perspective. Like all
the world is being absorbed by that light and the runner is trying to run.
In the second version I'm showing a simple runner.

I don't know why but in both of the pictures I get the feeling that he is not running at all but he looks like hes being sucked in to a hole kinda like that TV show sliders, or some sort of warping thing. I don't know maybe he could be leaning forward a little more to show more implied action.

wow! i think that was a great improvement. i dont really think the smudge was workign well. in the first one i thought he was getting sucked into the bright light, but the second looks like runnning to me. looks nice keep it up! |

I mean manga effect like in akira or something - you have seen those wonderful effect-feeling-things in them, haven't you?
And also some sonic boom would be nice.

That shoe on his right leg looks like its a left shoe... the way it curves outward, running shoes usually curve inwar, as does the outside of your foot.
