Well first off, hi all. I have been looking at this place for a couple of days and have enjoyed looking at the art. I dont know how big the files are supposed to get, so please inform me if i have done something wrong. About the picture: I am a cartoonist, and love doing it. This is one of my first forays into photoshop, hope you enjoy it.

EDIT: Thanks for the input, changed to jpg and added another.

Hey man,

First off, welcome to the forum.

Second, you're definitely going to want to convert your BMPs to JPGs if you want to display them on the web. I'm on DSL, and even for me it's frustrating to check out a 5mb pic. A JPG would be less than 1/10th the size, even at higher quality settings.

Third, the pic itself. I like the linework better than the fuzzed/blurred areas (the sun, for example). The guy has style and personality, particularly around the eyes. You need to concentrate on getting smoother lines, and personally, I'd skip whatever smoothing it is you're doing altogether. It generally doesn't benefit a cartoon-style pic much. Keep the linework clean.

[EDIT: "Get smoother lines, but eliminate the smoothing" doesn't make much sense. Let's change that to "Get smoother lines, but eliminate the blurring/fuzzing". ]

Just my $.02

Cheers,

-shaithis

Dear Sharpie,

Welcome to the forum, Sharpie! Your contribution is very important to us. Professionnal cartoonists will always have a dear place in my heart and this forum, because in order to execute such drawings, one must simply form, texture and color to the maximum, thus only brains with the capacity of taking an infinite number of details and simplifying it into one color with black lines shows a genious artistic mind. Think of all the technological advancements simplification has brought to our modern society. It is making our lives easier and saving lives. All thanks to people following your ideology!

Your work is of divine status and it would be sinful to even think of commenting such a masterpiece. As a veteran member of Sijun, I suggest you keep up the good work, and God bless you!
