something about the reds in the top one i like but she doesnt really fit with the background. Bottom one fits better, go for that i think, or maybe try a more inbetween?
ooh yeah, cool pic by the way

I'm with Cos on this one; a little closer to the middle of the two. Maybe make her body more red but leave the ground bluer...

This is some great work, the one on the top looks best in my opinion, I wouls say ditch the one of the bottom, the colors look at little washed out. I think you have a nice conan the barbarian style going here. Also, maybe add a bit more detail to the bear so he doesn't clash as much with the chick..... mmmm Her body is tasty..... Other than that canker sore on the left side of her lip.. I woudl say it is looking really good.. |

Hey man!
I love the painting! I particularly like the top one better....it's warmer. It looks like you have been seeing Frazetta paintings....I can see some resemblances!
Keep it up!!!

I prefer the second one. The second looks cold, the first just looks muddy. |

I like the colors on the girl and the bear in the first one better, but I agree with Cos, the foreground doesn't match the background. I think it's because the purplish color on the foreground is something you'd be more likely to see around sunset, but the sky and the mountains don't quite match that. You might also try to get some more complimentary colors in there. On both pics, you use a very narrow band of hues, and I think that's contributing to the washed-out look Sap mentioned, anyway. |

The color problem lies in that the shadow takes its color from the surroundings, generally the sky for the more upward facing plains. The air looks clear and crisp, which means there isn't a whole lot of haze on the background. So to change the ambient color from background to forground doesn't make a lot of sense, whether it's to brown or to green, like these two. You could introduce another color via the sun, especially if it's low in the sky. A mauve sky with golden clouds is always popular, but whatever works.

for me, the problem lies in that the girl seems as if she's separated from the rest of the scene because of her coloring. If she's a red girl in a blue world, she's still gonna appear to be mostly blue. You could use either color scheme, you just need to have better integration with the girl and the ambient light color. Suggest her real color, don't actually paint it. |

Personally I like the second one best.
However since the sky is so clear, I think the sun would throw a brighter whiter light. Everything that is lit should be like it was photographed in a white room. The top one looks like its under a red sun, and the second under a blue.
Another crit, is her left hand. It looks like she's resting it against her thigh. If she is then she's balancing a hell of a lot of weight with that axe, I think you should put it in darker shadow, so that it looks like the axe handle is actually falling behind her legs, balancing out the weapon.
other than that, very nice image, I like where it's going.

Well the bear is very much like the bear pic frazetta made and I copied.
I think the top one looks like a photograph (hot light) and very unnatural. (bad photograph).
The bottom one is stronger. I'm not sure about your use of greens though (a little warmer but do you need it?)
I'd work on cutting the highlights on the bear more like frazzeta -- yours looks a bit rough. Also, I know its cartoony but stronger anatomy could help it. I think most importantly tho is not to let the bears eyes droop.
Id concentrate the warms on the girl and decrease background greens.

Umm...a girl wouldn't look blue, unless she was really really pale! And then it's just be mostly her shadowed side that looks blueish. It is outside, and we do have a full spectrum there coming from the sun!

Yep..I only had Frazetta`s bears for reference at the time, but now I`ve gotten hold of some other nice icebear photos. Changes are coming.

A nice piece of work. Beyond the other comments, I would take a look at the shadow cast on the face. At the moment the shadow is too harsh. I would suggest a more gradual transition from light to dark, or an overall softer shadow on the dark side.

I think there's something wrong with the placement of the head, it's
placed to deep, try outlining the skeleton and find the right position
The picture has a nice feel to it but get rid of that Frazeta's bear |

Here`s the pic that inspired the bear. Let me know if mine is too similar. I mean a bear is a bear. Even after the polarbear photos I found, I still can`t shake the similarity from my head. I mean..this Frazetta pic has polarbears in all angles and shapes... The only way I seem to do it, is to make it very evil looking instead, but I wanted it not so.
I`m aware of the harsh face shadow. The top version color has been changed since the original so the comparison is no longer a question.
If you want to see my crappy acrylic version go here. Although I like the babe, the bear looks stupid...go have a laugh at my expence. I put it there so Joachim could see it;-) It`s all the way at the bottom.http://home.enitel.no/vebsart/vebsart3_gallery_icebear.htm

Wow ! Amazing work !
Here's few cents - the head of the lower right hand polar bear looks distorted - it's muzzle's a little flattened, and shouldn't the sun (even behind a cloud) cast some shadows on the ground ?
Great work otherwise ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

Wow, i like the reworked one alot better, i was really turned off at first just due to the bright background, but i really like how you put a nice dark mountain there, i think the composition works better.(for me)
And i accually like the acrylics version! the vibrent colors are coool |
