Hi all,
Long time since I posted something here,
Here a Teddy mixed with a Panda.
Any comments are welcome. I worked on 2000 x 2000 72 dpi. The fur appear good when sized down to 3-4-500x500.
I got a question:
If I want to make an image like this appears good at 1024 x 768...-What do I have to do? Should I ve to work at 10 000 x 10 000??? Then resize at 1024 x 768 and the fur ll be O.K?????
Took about 12 hours to render in photoshop.

what about making that 500x500 image bigger, I don't think you will lose too much detail on the fur then.. donno if that will do the trick, but its worth a try. |

Not the solution.
Look at the following image,
I really like the New View sized down in my Photoshop layout,
This the effect that I d like to get in a resolution of 1024 x 768.
Perhaps I should try to put a blur effect on the image?
Any suggestion?

Yeah, your best bet is probably just work work big and scale it down. Work as big as your computer will let you. Chances are, 10,000x10,000 isn't going to work out, but maybe you can do like 2x or 3x the final size.
And you can always work on the picture in sections, then stitch them back together at the end.
But yeah. Filters probably aren't going to do it.

Cool pic Vracky.
About your size question. Be a man! Grow some chesthair! Buck up! Take a 1024x768 downscale from the 2000x2000 version and go in with a small 1pxl brush and refine the image. Take the pain and draw. If you're a woman, then well..eeh... DON'T grow chesthair and eeh.. well you get the idea I'm sure..
All joking aside tho. 1024x768 isn't that large an area to fill. Even with a 1pxl brush. Drawing fur is just a boring little task (for some). No need to make it worse by going way up in the resolution scale. A 1pxl brush can do it for you. You just have to exercise a bit more control that's all.
For the edges, a trick you might want to try out is to seperate foreground from background and smudge out hair/fur-strokes. Can work really well on such small details.
ps. Don't you dare touch that blur filter!

In the little image it looks like he's held together with black electrician's tape. My teddy bear is reclining on my Printer currently. I was thinking about painting this scene. now I AM going to paint it.... but not just yet.

Here a reworked version of the Teddy. I decided to draw the fur on the body...I m a man Danny! LOL
Finaly, I sized down the image and work more hard to get the fur like I want. I Never know when I start to paint if its better to work on a tripple size or to work on the final resolution. Most of the time, if I plan to draw people with some hair, I setup the double size and this choice give me best results. In the case, it was the first time I drew fuzzy fur and I didn t see any difference between 2000 x 2000 sized down to 768 x 768.
Waylon: working in section... I ll jot down this good idea!!! I only have a p2 350 -
Dean: I dont understand where you see
electrician's tape...Perhaps on the black\brown body? -Draw your own bear...It s fun.
Danny: I used Smugge tool a lot since the beginning. Its very usefull for the edge.
Thanks for your comments!
Anyway, I ve almost finish and I d like to gets some comments on the fur body...Especially shading, etc.

that's really cool how you made the fur look like a real teddy bear's and you even show the cloth wrapping through the fur...really good job...he's too skinny and realistic to be cuddly to me though hehe but that's just a personal preference ...good job...cute face too what's his name? im gonna call my copy of him Mister Cuddle Buns because while he doesn't exactly exude cuteness from every orafice he would most certainly do in a pinch as a snuggletoy

It looks better now that you've filled the fur in a bit, but some of it is going in some strange directions. It's mostly on his body though, his face looks pretty good. But it looks like, on his body, none of his fur is actually facing you, which is very likely would be doing in some places. This is making portions of his body flatten out, mostly around his right arm (the left one, from our perspective). Look closely at some of the fur straight-on, then go back and try to fill some of it in. |

Is it me or does the look he's giving seem to tell you that just out of view he weilding a very large kitchen knife with your name on it.
P.S. I was terrified of clowns as well. Where's Freud when you need him.
BTW, I love the fur around the face, very convincing. good work indeed |

i was a little confused when i read your title. i thought: wait a minute isnt he a guy? maybe its a girl, or a guy who likes guys? then i opened it and noticed the teddy bear and it made sense. Anyway past my confusion now, and your bear is really cool. |

dalickwid, hummm, I'll call it Teddy - Is it original? -
Thanks waylon for your comments. I take some to update the teddy.
PandaX52, I always try to pay more attention to the eye. It's my main focus for many
image, I made and I really like to get those very captivating. Thanks! Job is almost done!
edible snowman, I'm sorry about my confusing title! I'm a guy (I ve the right to love furry animal!)....Here the explanation
I got in my mind when I wrote it. When I was young...long time ago- I got a little furry Teddy like this one and also a Bugs Bunny that I really love to take many Hug, cuddles and saying to him some secrets!
When I start sketching this scene...I really want to get a furry animal that looks like to say; Hey, if your are lonely tonight (put me on your Windows wallpaper background) take me in your arm (at least try)
and confide me all your cry.
Thanks all for your comments. I'll up the finished image in the finished drawing section!
Sorry for my bad English.
